In reply to ponderiverJean and Dina was sung by Sparrow in 1956 when he was an up and coming 22 year old calypso singer. He went to Guyana to perform at the LCP(League of Colored People) annual fair that same year.

Sparrow & Dr. Eric Williams both came to prominence the same year 1956 .
Sparrow as an up & coming Calypsonian & Dr. Eric Williams with his People's National Movement , aka the PNM .

Damn...Dukes knows his stuff...Sparrow always says it was in BG (as it was called back then) that he honed his craft and learnt his trade.
Jean and Dinah was a lyrical change that Sparrow made of a jingle he had for the Salvatori store in the Fifties.
