In reply to ponderiverJean and Dina was sung by Sparrow in 1956 when he was an up and coming 22 year old calypso singer. He went to Guyana to perform at the LCP(League of Colored People) annual fair that same year.

That American base was set up during World War 2 I believe.

Damn...Dukes knows his stuff...Sparrow always says it was in BG (as it was called back then) that he honed his craft and learnt his trade.

Jean and Dinah was a lyrical change that Sparrow made of a jingle he had for the Salvatori store in the Fifties.

What you heard from me so far? I only release my calypso on Wed/Thurs.

If you calling the sporty dub I brought so far calypso I'm disappointed in your ignorance.

One more calypso to bring next week.
