Cricket writer and Digicel Media Manager Imran Khan brings us a hopeful look forward through the eyes of a "rejuvenated and relaxed" Runako Morton, who it appears is Chris Gayle's latest opening partner. Morton enthuses about his new role: "I always like the challenge of opening and I don’t like to wait to bat so I love opening".

HEADLINE: A fresh start for Runako Morton
I think Morton is humouring us as to his liking to open batting. I think he knows that it is the only way he can make the team at the moment.

U R right..In the middle he WILL wither away..He cannot bat.
This is a better playing morton guys, he's looked more solid than his previous stints. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he's brilliant, just that there's a lot of improvements.
Runako deserves a chance, he has spoken aloud in this years domestic season with an emphatic three centuries,--two of them doubles--and while i question his discipline and his repertoire of shots, i think he is a legitimate pick for the one dayers.
Besides , the selectors have been clamouring for two individuals to put up their hands for the number 2 AND 4
positions on the team , and I think we have those players hands held aloft.
FOR THE NUMBER 2 POSITION (gayle's opening partner)
ADRIAN BARATH
RUNAKO MORTON
LENDL SIMMONS (propable)
FOR THE NUMBER 4 POSITION (who comes after sarwan)
NARSHING DEONARINE
DARREN BRAVO
LENDL SIMMONS (propable)
RYAN HINDS ( long shot)
If we can pick DALE RICHARDS at 31/32 years old for an opening slot with no experience at the highest level, then we can damn sure give MORTON another chance---albeit a slim one---to see if he has turned the corner at this level.
Heartening to see so many young faces in the A-TEAM. A great looking line-up ,though I would have gone for shillingford as my best spin option and one last thing , WHO THE HELL IS ANDRE MCREARY ??????
good luck MORTON !!
