Vegetarians have weaker bones than meat eaters

JohnDoe 2009-07-02 11:34:41

Probably have weaker boners too lol lol lol

I eat plenty dairy. Lots of plain unsweetened non-fat yoghurt. Cottage cheese.

But one of the dangers to the vegetarian dieter is B12 deficiency. Cause dizziness, imbalance etc.

nsriniv 2009-07-02 22:58:48

hmm but somehow by creation or evolution.. Veggies animals are strongest (Elephants... etc.,)

but why ppl eat only veggie animals in large ( goat, cow.... etc.,) no lions or tigers part of delicacy?

I am a Vegetarian..Been about 15/17 years now..And all of a sudden in the beginning of May I have been rushed to the ER several times. Was admitted in hospital twice(over a wk stay)..
I have been to many Specialist Doctors yet they cannot find out what the problem is!

My balance/gait is off really bad..I can hardly do anything..Just going to the store is difficult..

I will have to chk to see if my B12 intake is adequate..I think they did not find any deficiency..

I am going to this Doc who appeared on Medical Mystery next week..

Any Docs on the MB who can help me.. Thanks

PS: I am desparate.

If all fail, then just try the weed, it seem to cure everything, it sure cured by constant headaches and dizziness after being written off by doctors. No kidding man, give it a try, drink it, eat it, smoke it, do whatever you like and I gurantee you, you will notice a difference.

They took so many blood work..They did MRI of brain/pituitary/Abdomen..All neg. Sonagram of Pancreas and Heart..All neg..I have been to several Neurologist(7).They also did a blood volume count--negative..
I went to an ENT..no middle ear issues..I was referred to a Gait Specialist for next week. They have a special Machine at Westchester Medical that can determine if there is any issue w/ a person's middle ear that may affect balance.

All the blood work was negative except for my TSH(Thyroid)..I am on Synthroid..

In reply to buds Why have you been rushed to the ER - maybe if you give us what you felt maybe we could help. Is it that you felt weak and wanted to faint, vision blurred a bit?

Anyhow, blood count and oxygen or two very important things to staying strong. If you have like sinus problems, you won't take in as much oxygen as you like so then you body parts won't get as much blood as it would like. Check to make sure you have no respiratory disease and make sure your blood count is good. Eat some facting meat man, they keep the blood level up. big grin

BSugar was very low..It went down to 41!!! But stabilised after getting to ER..They ruled out Insulonoma..That was on 5/6/09..

I felt light-headed, weak, fatigued and my balance was fact up..I man cannot stand without feeling like I am gonna fall over.I have to dig my feet into the ground to stay balanced.

Yesteday, I had to knee down bec I felt like passin out..Not a good thing when U live alone..lol..

I eat like a pig..No weight loss/gain..Constant 186lbs..5ft 11..

Been to ER x 3times in May..Admitted once..Went to ER in June..admitted once x 1wk..

This all started happening after I came back fr the Dominican Republic..

I would eat meat but, stopped that stuff many years ago..I only eat "real meat"..lol

jen 2009-07-03 08:55:53

In reply to buds Come on man, time to start back on the meat. You said it yourself that your bsugar was low - as soon as you finish eating meat, you can naturally feel that climbing, your energy level rises.

Sometimes feeling faintish when standing can do with your stomach as well like nausea, acid in the stomach. Can you sleep on your back without your nose being a bit blocked up?

buds 2009-07-03 09:24:46

In reply to jen

I am never sick until recently..I do not even catch the ccold for the past 15 yrs.I had no health issues until May09..

However, since been off meat my energy levels are not what it use to be..That much I can tell..

But all fun aside..This is serious stuff..

The only meat I would eat is "possibly chicken"..but I really do not want to go back to eating meat after so many years. However, if it will make things better..I will have no re-course but to start back.

Sorry to hear but this has nothing to do with vegetarians.
One of my friend had this and below are the tests she has gone through. Finally she went to Kerala for Ayurvedic Treatment for a month and she was alright. The symptoms started with anxiety, panic attacks first. 90% of the time it is Vestibular issue.
hearing test - pure tone, bone conduction etc..
posturography tests
Electronystagmograph Tests
Rotary-Chair Tests
Dix-Hallpike Tests
Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials Test

DukeStreet 2009-07-06 09:36:53

The reason I asked if you traveled was a concern about perilymph fistula - an inner/middle ear condition. Has this been ruled out? Not sure if there is a correlation between the air pressure changes and your condition.

Went to the ENT..She cannot find anything..I am going back to she her next week after the Rotary Test.Along with a Gait Specialist.

I will mention it but, I have no idea what that is..

Ironically, I feel a little better..The gait feeling is not so much..Just the Woozy feeling and pressure(eyes) are more present.
