The Henglish Press and Wayne Looney....
In reply to Samwells
he hot or what ?
In reply to Raggs yea he scoring a bag a goal yes....but he is not even the best player in the EPL much less in the World...MUCH less to be compared to Pele
In reply to Samwells
he gat ah very great all round game ....But de south africa journey will mek we see if he is de real deal....
don't dis him yet....
In reply to Samwells
That comparison is indeed ridiculous. Rooney is currently in the form of his life and I would give him the nodge as the best player in the EPL over the Drog because Rooney more consistently shows up in the big ones.
Who is a better player in the EPL Currently?
In reply to Raggs
he is the don in the EPL
Fergie sure knows how to produce a winning team
I have never seen nor heard anyone make that comparison until now (on this thread)... perhaps dats because I don't read the trash press !!
Rooney is not only a boss in the EPL as I'm sure you all saw how he crashed AC Milan at the San Siro !!
Anybody who feels that Rooney is not a great player is simply badmind.
He has skill and great technical ability, he can kick well with both feet, he heads well, his work rate is phenomenal, he has great vision and knows how to score.
Who disagree??
In reply to Samwells
tell dem to watch dis and get back to me
In reply to newdread Very good player??? Yes...Great? NO!!!..White Pele??? HELL FACKING NO
In reply to Entertainer
Drogba better than Rooney by a 10 miles...and when on form Torres is 20 times better
In reply to Samwells
It comes from a song that Manchester United fans sing about him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdB0oFqpA50
I know hilarious. Manchester United fans reckon they have mates
.
English football fans are a desperate breed of people
They said Michael Owen was the next Pele too after his game against Argentina in the world cup
Is not now dem singin Rooney is de new Pele. Dem was singin dat since 2006 WC when dey did also sing de Cup was "comin back 'ome"
Dem more delusional dan vor
In reply to imusic He will be exposed in South Africa...wont even score 3 goals
In reply to Samwells
Some Gargg-ish English fan said dat. Rooney is ah very good player, who is very sharp, and he's having ah fantastic season. He's also in ah great situation playin wid ManU. Rooney has also done well in international ball, and can have a very good summer at de WC. But Rooney is still not Ronaldo, Kaka, Tores, Eniesta, Drogba, Messi, Xavi, or Ronaldinho in terms of impact.

Who disagree?
Not me, and I don't much like the guy either.
However, as you say he has it all (this season at least). Plus he can hold up the ball and he's pretty durable. I think people miss just how imaginative a player he is. he certainly has no weaknesses apart maybe from feeling he's better than his team-mates (now that a certain CR7 is gone).
I'd say Rooney is the EPL player of the season. Drogba can disappear almost completely from games (even ones in which he scores) but Rooney turns up and contributes every day.
He's still not as good as Ronaldo though.
In reply to Kurt
Not as good in what way?
In reply to Kurt
Wait? Is dat even ah discussion? Rooney not even in de same stratussphere.
In reply to JohnBull
The Portuguese is just that bit better at everything. He's a better striker of the ball, better in the air, has a little more pace and can go past defenders better. Ronaldo's goal scoring record over the last 3-4 years, bears out these facts
Apart from holding up play, something CRonaldo is not called upon to do, Rooney takes second place.
In reply to Trinidave
I'm torking CR, not de Brazilian.
In reply to Trinidave
I would tend to agree.
I see three main (relative) limitations in Rooney's game compared to the other names you have mentioned: a. Vision b. Skills from dead-ball situations and c. Imagination and control in very small space. His astounding work-rate (for a player as skillful as him) somewhat compensates for (a), but not the other two aspects.
In reply to Kurt
Agree that CR is more skillful, as in dribbling, and a better dead ball striker.
But Rooney is stronger, more durable, less prone to disappear in big games and takes his chances with equal creativity and aplomb.
As complete footballers, I do not share the view that the difference btwn them is all that vast.
In reply to JohnBull
Not that vast. maybe, but still clear enough.
Even this season, when Rooney is in the form of his life, CR is ahead (19 goals in 20 games) in everything but durability.
Rooney is a very good player. CR is the best in the world.
In reply to Kurt
rooney is a better team player he sacrificed his game to accommodate ronaldo's.....
In reply to Raggs
Great point. Was listening to Coach John Thompson the Hall of Fame basketball coach talk about players sacrificing their game. He mentioned dat de great players should always acknowledge dat fuh great players tuh be at dey best, de other players have tuh sacrifice their game, in order tuh play wid de great players.
You mentioned dat Rooney sacrificed his game fuh Christiano. Why do you think it was NOT de other way around?
Do you tink dat Jordan sacrificed his game fuh Pippen, or was it de other way around?
In reply to Trinidave
I watched the games, rooney was pushed out onto the left and was forced to track back & cover Ronaldo when he lost the ball.....Ronaldo never had to worry about dat sort of duty when playing for Man U...
In reply to Raggs
I agree Rooney is a better team player but Ronaldo is the more skillful player.... and you are absolutely right that Rooney played a different role than he is now when Ronaldo was at ManU.
In reply to Samwells
Are you prepared to put your money where your mouth is ??
In reply to NineMiles
look like he gone nine miles away from....seems like he don't want to know......

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm so u saying the Big Aristotle is greater than Kobe?????????????
In reply to Raggs
Neither of them strike me as team players. Rooney is far to quick to cuss out his team-mates when the fail to serve up a goal-scoring on a plate for him.
Rooney didn't sacrifice anything on his own volition. His boss (SAF) recognized that CR was the better player and wanted him in the danger areas.

In de first two championships dat LA won, ah resounding YES!. Shaq averaged over 30 wid ease. De balance started tuh shift at de end of Shaq's stint at LA.

In reply to Raggs
TriniD is not ah big Christiano fan, but yuh cannot deny dat he makes de team better, just by steppin on de pitch. Regarding work-rate, Ronaldo is ah very hard worker on de pitch, which is one of de reasons he scores so many goals comin een from midfield
In reply to NineMiles US$5000
In reply to Samwells
That's easy money. If he is not injured you'll lose for sure.
In reply to Samwells
I'm only now seeing your response.... are you serious bro ??
US$5k kinda seem excessive.... wouldn't want it to look as if I'm ripping you off.
Let's go for an easy and straight forward £100 instead... what you say??
Warning: have you noticed that for an overrated player... he's put 4 past the mighty AC Milan in this tie ??
I am no fan of Rooney and Ronaldo but both are quality players, with ronaldo being superior and he was simply the best player at manu while he was there. Manu owes him the titles they won while he was there.
The boy roooney is also a good striker, thoigh a diver, he has balance, is strong and can score with both feet and his head. Also has good work ethic and movement. He is the best pommies player since Gazza and will do well in RSA.
Today manu gave an efficient display that you expect from Fergie`s team. Not masters of flair or the beautiful game but get the job done nonetheless.

Anyone who disagrees with me a lot may need to have their head checked.
Any thoughts of bringing Jahjah with you?
TriniD, I have a prediction to make soon, re the world cup. I know it won` be popular but sadly it seems like it will come to pass.
Recalled I called Italy last time even b4 the tourney began? I strongly suspect I will call it right again(sadly).
