Way faster than Dujon but slower than Ridley.
Gwan Captainceee
Ridley was better than Dujon!
ENDS!!!!

Let me ask this:
If you have the best keeper in the world, and the bowlers don't get the batsmen to edge, no matter how good this keeper is, can he take a catch ? If Baugh who is a poor keeper gets access to 100 edges and Dujon who was a good keeper gets access to only 50 catches, whom do you think would end up with the more dismissals ? Take your time. The point is that catches do not tell you the skills of a keeper necessarily. A keeper's catches have a lot more to do with the bowling. Mind you, Dujon did not drop many. Ridly did not drop many either. But what about stumpings, standing up to seamers to keep batsmen in their creases, leg-side glove work, bowler feedback, etc., etc. ?
In reply to bajanman
Its not how much you take ...its how much you GRASSED...you stupid Tittie Scunt!!!
Btw,Ramdin Grassed more than Dujon and Baugh added together!!
In reply to bajanman
ramdin must be yuh gal
In reply to bajanman
thats a meaningless stat...that is mere trivia...but has no bearing on determination of keeping ability..
It shows that back in the day our bowlers were aiming at the stumps...getting dismissals bowled or lbw...
In reply to bajanman
If you check the slips catches you will see there
were a lot more when Dujon kept.
In reply to Outswinger If bowlers swing the ball more and make batsmen fend-off more to slip, gully and silly mid-on/off.
Hit a few more stumps and lbw, then there is alot less for the keeper to catch.

Btw,Ramdin Grassed more than Dujon and Baugh added together!!
That's what I keep telling people....A keeper cannot be judged by # of dismissals only, but the percentage of chances missed as against those taken!
In reply to Cleg
Prove he grasp more than dujon and boar!
This season alone boar drop 5catches and missed a couple down leg!
Prove Dujon could keep against spin!
Prove it!
In reply to bajanman is the couple down the leg side included in the five mentioned?
In reply to cricketest nope!
And another thing that wont help his case to make windies as a keeper is the fact that this same issues with his keeping has been dated way back in 2005!
In reply to Cleg
Do you think Boar is a better KEEPER than Ramdin??
Just asking.
I have been working at my weaknesses and also my strengths, but more so on my weaknesses. Before the 2005 Carib Beer series I was in the nets a whole lot, not just working on my batting but also my wicket keeping. I've seen where I have been improving as the games went on. Definitely now I have sorted out my problems and I know how to adjust and things like that I have been working on in the nets.
Anybody special that you have called upon to help you with the wicket keeping aspect of your game?
In the early stages, I had done some work with Andre Coley who is a Jamaica coach [and former Jamaica wicket keeper] and I have spoken with Mr Jeffrey Dujon, but more so Andre Coley, he has helped me throughout the Jamaica training programme and I should say I have learnt to do the right things as a wicket keeper.
My bad!
Baugh said before...
That means more than 5years he working on his wicketkeeping!!!
Poor fellah!
In reply to CricketLuva4 No! However, I think he's better attacking batsman but not a better batsman!

reality check!!!!
what we taylor, edwards, powell, best, roach, rampaul, baker and tongue do now????
In reply to Outswinger your reply to bajanman shows a genuine understanding of the role of a wicketkeeper...and how to assess a good one
In reply to Outswinger
Which keeper in the region currently can do all of those things you just said??
Which keeper can keep to spin and stand up to the wicket effect, runouts when the batsman tries to sneek a bye and has gone over 400runs in a tests match without conceding a bye?
Huh????
Answer?????

Beharie,
You have a point. But it's not really the issue I am addressing. What I am dealing with is the method by which the position is assessed, not who should be the anointed one. I merely pointed out that there is more skill at play that needs to be considered than just the catches stat. Do you follow ? It is deeper than looking up who took what catches. This is quite unfair to a keeper who is good but does not take a lot of catches for his team because his team's bowlers do not cause many batsmen to edge. And is just as unjustly credits one who is not as good but looks better because his teams bowlers do break off the edge.
In reply to Outswinger
This sheds some light on the issue although there is even more to it. Mainly, it talks about the varied skills keepers need to have and gives some ideas about assessing keepers. See what you think:
