what the hell he should have been Picked for sure. and I not even from TNT I just think he's a good T20 Player/opener.
William Perkins should have been selected he is a proven T20 opener for Trinidad, Champions League, Stanford T20, and the one time they picked him to Open against australia with X Marshall he did well. Young fast between wickets and can bat at a high pressure spot and score quick runs. I do not get it????

In reply to Cricket_PHD
David Bernard, Wavell Hinds, Nikita Miller, Runako Morton, Devon Smith, Devon Thomas, Gavin Tonge
who all deserve to be there over Perkins
In reply to LBW375
Based on what? No one has seen Bernard or Wavell or Devon Thomas or Runako morton play 20/20. Perkins was quite entertaining in the Champions league and this format is all about entertainment,
In reply to LBW375
How So? Bernard Really? Devon Smith I forget he's T20 IPL/Stanford big ting right? LOL
Your sick take an advil and go lay down in front a car.
Its T20 not ODI or TEST cricket William Perkins is much better T20 Player, proven so in this format. Champions league ring a bell. etc, etc,
You obviously like your repetitiously, recycled, re-tried, redundant garbage.
Keep Eatin SHIT and Tellin Everbody Is Chocolate Bro! If that's your thing.
But Sorry cause honestly yuh aint foolin no one but yuhself!!

Like I said before repetitiously, recycled, re-tried, redundant garbage.
We both know that Perkins is much better suited as per his performances in Stanford T20, and for TNT during the champions league and other events. aside from International T20 which he was only picked once but looked good between the wickets before he got run-out. He even Scooped Brett Lee for four.
He is a fast paced, young, etertaining, and talented youth player who has not been given a good run at the T20 format. He is a T20 specialist how many times yuh hear commentators say dat.
sometime the facts don show all
His champions league and Stanford and domestic T20 events are not registered just like IPL.

15.Darren Bravo
Two alternates Smith, Simmons
In reply to hewesleyb I know he is an injury waiting to happen but I would have included Dale Richards into this mix. Him (actually playing) and Gale at the top would be a sight against coming quickies.
I know he is also recycled but he is a better player (when healthy)of fast bowling than any player in the West Indies at the moment. He is the one player I would have liked to see taken on the Aussie pacemen on a fast wicket.
In reply to hewesleyb
He was involved in a first wicket Partnership with X-man of
"1st wicket 53 runs - 15.14 Run Rate WKD Perkins - 1/53 after (3.3)overs "
and he looked good before he unfortunately got run out by Ponting. West Indies won

...179 s/r vs Eng....brilliant innings!!!
..Perkins T20 stats...
Kindly tell me which of thoes Two should be in the Squad???
Has the provisional squad been announced? Anyone have a link to the story?
In reply to Cleg
One good inings In June 2007
Lara Had many great inings back in the day too give him a call nah? I hear he considering coming out of retirement.
Progression or regression?
Honestly though Devon Smith has talent but never rose to his potential must we continue to persist?
and yes there are worse than him but some of the others are not as good. If talent is what you lookin then Perkins deserves a chance period.
In reply to Cricket_PHD
..W Hinds..HS 72*..

Make sure you keep that smile when they continue to fail as usual and shit. once a shithound always a shithound.
wavell look real good in aus is that why they drop him during the mighty Zim series?
In reply to Cricket_PHD
...and what makes Perkins any better??
...you recon 61 from 33 balls is a waste
I wished Devon was in this..... match..
..might have been a lot different!!!
In reply to Cricket_PHD ... one objection ... Nikita Miller is not a waste. You sure you not a TiT?
In reply to methodic ... what has Darren Bravo done to get picked over Simmons?
In reply to Cricket_PHD ... just a little perspective ... the WICB has destroyed many a players Devon included ... The Devons continue to out bat everbody at dung heap, but are only given one series every so often ... then sent back to dung heap ... no A team tour or development camp, then brought back again ... recipe for failure ...
In reply to natty_forever
I dont think Darren Bravo is a player for 20/20 Cricket.
In reply to Pacy
been quite ordinary so far really
In reply to matchstick
I do not think so either...
In reply to mikelegend
Hopefully he gets a continuous run in the team so we can get a good feel of what he has to offer...
Personally i think he needs a few more seasons of FC...
perfect A-team candidate...
In reply to Pacy ... you realise sey we both agree with Ganga. He made a statement about young players being made to play T20 and ODI instead of 4dayers, which cannot be good for development.
I say Darren Ganga for WICB Prez!!!
In reply to matchstick
Darren Bravo
been quite ordinary so far really
True
No X-man on the 2020 Provitional Team. I know he sucked in 4 days competions, but for 2020 He is way better than W Hinds, Apart from X-man, I realy wanted to see K Powel also, in 2020 he is better than Morton.
In reply to matchstick
You came to that conclusion based on the 3 innings he has played in ODI so far.... Amazing talent you have
In reply to methodic
how can u pick bernard, sammy and bravo in one team
In reply to natty_forever
Not just Darren... Anyone young would be a big improvement from what we have now
In reply to methodic
Devon Smith should be in the 15. He is a good T20I player, based on his record. He should actually have the place in front of Barath to be honest. It was most apparent that when Fletcher and Marshall were scoring 0 after 0 in the last T20 world cup, Devon Smith was home with an average of 30+ in 5 T20Is. Tha is a shame.
It should be:
Gayle
Devon Smith
Sarwan
Bravo
Chanderpaul
Ramdin
Pollard
Sammy
Taylor
Benn
Roach
Rampaul
Benn
Barath
Dwayne Smith or Bernard Jr
In reply to kup
Barath has played one 20/20 game on the worst of the worst wickets.
Devon has played 20/20's and has only played 1 good innings (61 in 36 vs England). He was part of the cause of WI =getting a poor total in the WC vs Bangladesh with a fifty at less than run a ball.
No need to go and recycle players like him. It would be similar to bringing back Ganga because he top scored in our first ever 20/20 game.
has Perkins made 10 this year in any inning?
In reply to Pacy
i try!
In reply to kup
Xman maybe...but Fletcher had a very good eyecatching 50+ in that T20WC....
..matching CHG shot for shot vs OZ.
In reply to CricketLuva4
So he played 1 good innings and 1 not so good innings in 6 ....and you decide to stick a fork in him?
Btw,it was 61 in 34....not 36!!
In reply to natty_forever
Your question should be; what has Simmons done to get back in the team?
In reply to matchstick
and while I think that Barath has great potential goods for the longer form of the game somehow he does not strike me as attacking enough or able to rotate the strike for T20. He is easliy bogged down and uses up too many dot balls
In reply to natty_forever
Really its a toss up between Darren Bravo, Simmons and Smith. I am more trying to read the selectors, the captain and management rather than pick my team. If they pick Smith and he fails the same way again they leave themselves open to being hang. Simmons has not look good since the champions league. I think young Bravo barely gets in.
In reply to kup
I can't see the selectors going back to Smith over someone they deemed as a building block of the future.
In reply to jala
The selectors have being consistently picking Bernaud. To be honest he have been steady. I think its between him and Miller. Bravo is automatic, Sammy is in on recent performances.
In reply to Cricket_PHD u r a bias trickiedian. those that u leave out isnot from trinidad that y u leave them out
In reply to Cleg
The problem with Fletcher is that his last few T20 scores have all been zero. It is totally disgraceful and warrants non-selection.
In reply to CricketLuva4
Devon Smith has only played 6 T20 innings with 2 50s. Of course he should be picked. He also was Gayle's partner when he scored the hundred against SA in a partnership of 145 and his last knock was a good 37 off 27 balls. Devon is definitely an asset to the team.
Having looked against at the provisional 30, my fifteen is definitely:
Gayle
Devon Smith
Sarwan
Dwayne Bravo
Chanderpaul
Ramdin
Pollard
Sammy
Taylor
Benn
Roach
Rampaul
Miller
Barath
Deonarine
In reply to WICFan
I guess we are on the same page, with our only difference being Simmons vs Devon Smith. Well, we do have games against Canada and Ireland approaching in April, so it would be a good time to put both to open and see who scores more runs.
In reply to methodic
Darren Bravo may be a building block, but why pick him when he's done nothing in T20 or List A cricket to be picked? He has not scored 40 runs for Trinidad in T20 cricket, why is he even playing for WI? If he's such a building block, sign him up in an academy, don't play him in 20/20 International cricket before he even has any confidence ot do so. It would be wiser to pick him in a test match where he can build an innings (and he has FC hundreds) than T20I games. Not picking him now does not mean we'll be throwing away his career. He's just not ready yet.
In reply to clifford
Before he got into the team people were saying he can't play pace...
I think what we learned from this tour is that he struggles a bit against quality spin. Harutz did not bother him much in AUS because harutz is not the best spinner and the tracks in AUS are more seam conducive.
Barath is attacking enough against seamers (we saw that in AUS and in the Champs' league)
I like him (i like any batsman who scores runs plenty) and given my evaluation he might do well against SA if we have a few good decks.
But we are going to SL later in the year and he might come up short against Murali and co.
Lets see how he progresses.
In reply to leeward
I am actually not a trini and have stated that Darren Bravo has not done much with his chances. But he is Young.
Moreover I think rampaul tries hard but is up and down If he did not have the wickets that he got I would have left him out too.
Additionally, I have said several times that pressure on Ramdunce is a must but we don have a good back up keeper yet. I thought Linden James looked good before but he yet to step up. which I still hope he does in fact anyone who is a West Indian keeper needs to step up and put pressure for the spot.
this will make ramdin perform better or the new guy will get the spot.
I just think specifically in T20 William Perkins should be persisted with. thats all!
If he fails repeatedly and is brought back and fails over and over again. I myself would not stand for that despite one or two good innings 'like others.'
I do not like to endlessly recycle tried tested and true failures. there are youth and others to pick from. Its up to them the new kids with the opportunity, to grasp it! I find they try harder and have a dream to chase.
I promote youth and opportunity to rebuild around people who have already put there hand up as seniors [Sars, Shiv, Gayle, even Dw Bravo] rather than picking guys who had their chances over and over again.
In reply to WICFan
This is the better 15, but i would play simmons instead of barath. I think we are spoiling little Barath. We should keep him for ODI and Test only.
my only problem with that team or the provisional squad is the selection of W.Hinds, i know that he scored runs regionally , but what the did is Australia was not even average with the bat and fielding well forget about that
, i almost thought he was drunk , persisting with hasbeens when they were not really everwas's in sport is not a good policy , while we can be pleasantly be surprised , more often that not it does nothing for the future
