The following is the full text of an "Agreement of
Principles" reached between the WICB and WIPA:
Whereas the WICB and WIPA each recognize their common interest in the development and success of West Indies Cricket.
Whereas the relationship in the past has been one of conflict and controversy - a situation which is inimical to West Indies cricket, particularly for the stability, growth and development of the game in the Caribbean.
WICB and WIPA now agree that:
Both parties commit themselves to a new dispensation of cooperation pledging to work together to dispose of all outstanding matters no later than the 31st August, 2006.
In this spirit of cooperation, both parties further commit themselves to resort to public statements on controversial issues only after every reasonable effort has been made to resolve differences internally.
Both parties acknowledge that there is a Dispute Resolution Process, as is contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which will be signed by August 31st 2006 and emphasizes the commitment to follow this process.
Both parties commit themselves to engage in a relationship of mutual respect and the honoring of all agreements arrived at between the parties.
Both parties recognize the goodwill which has made this agreement possible and restate their desire to improve the earnings of the Board and the Players whenever practicable. On its part WICB will pay an additional premium to the players for the forthcoming series of US$100k for the four games and US$50k if the team qualifies for the final.
The full payment will therefore amount of US$600k for the four games and US$300k for the final.
The figure represents 30 per cent of the revenue earned from the series.
Signed:
Kenneth Gordon, President, WICB
Dinanath Ramnarine, President of WIPA
