West Indies gleaned some consolation from its failure to qualify for the Super League stage of the tournament by winning the Plate Championship at Bayuemas.

Having been placed in the so-called group of death along with the two eventual finalists, India and South Africa, as well as Papua New Guinea, it was always going to be an uphill task for the boys from the Caribbean.

But all through this tournament Shamarh Brooks and his team-mates have shown plenty of talent with the likes of Kieran Powell, Steven Jacobs and Darren Bravo to the fore.

Up against defending champion and consistently the top Associate team at this level Nepal, the Windies made short work of the task at hand, dismissing its opponent for just 74 in 25.3 overs.

Jason Dawes was the pick of the bowlers with a fine 4-18 while Bravo (2-8) also bowled well. In reply, it took the West Indies just 14.2 overs to knock off the runs with Bravo there at the end unbeaten on 24.

Plate Championship Final scores:

At Bayuemas, Kuala Lumpur, West Indies beat Nepal by seven wickets

Nepal 74 all out, 25.3 overs (Jason Dawes 4-18, Darren Bravo 2-8)

West Indies 78-3, 14.2 overs (Darren Bravo 24 not out; Amrit Bhattarai 2-25)
