Samuels available for Jamaica, but dropped

Jamaica's selectors have dropped Marlon Samuels from the Carib Beer team for the fifth round game against Barbados at Kensington Oval.
After withdrawing from the last round for personal reasons, Samuels made himself available for the Barbados encounter but, according to Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) spokesman Brian Breese, the selectors "opted to go to Barbados with an unchanged team."
Breese insisted the omission had nothing to do with the decision by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to file a misconduct charge against the right-handed batsman or the recent ICC clampdown on his illegal bowling action.
"It's not related to those things. The selectors decided to keep the same squad together, that's all. It's not to say he won't be picked for the next round. It's just a decision to stick with the same team," Breese said in an interview.
However, that official party line from Breese isn't going to sit well with the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA).
It's hard to make the argument that Samuels, a certainty in the West Indies middle order, can be dropped from Jamaica's side for cricketing reasons. It's important for WIPA to make sure that Samuels isn't being disciplined or censured by the JCA without a proper hearing.
