Missing Luggage Disrupt Carib Beer Tournament
Fri, Mar 28, '08
The final round Carib Beer Series match between Guyana and Windward Islands will now start Saturday, after the visitors' luggage failed to arrive on the designated flight, CMC Sports is reporting.
The Windwards, who arrived Wednesday, had been expected to get their luggage Thursday but it did not arrive then either.
Cricket officials in Guyana say the luggage should arrive early Friday. The two teams will clash at the National Stadium at Providence.
The story is very much the same in Trinidad & Tobage where Barbados will try to overcome a week of mishaps which have marred their preparation.
The two teams are scheduled to face off at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre today, but Barbados' preparation has been hampered by missing luggage and unprepared practice venues.
Barbados team manager Livingstone Coppin told CMC Sports the team had had a rough time since arriving in the country on Tuesday.
He said 16 pieces of luggage had gone missing and the team had missed out on valuable physical and net sessions.
