Other than Sammy’s hundred the West Indies had nothing to celebrate on the second day. Kemar Roach triggered West Indies’ misery by unleashing a flurry of no-balls while Strauss and Pietersen’s fantastic batting display made the Caribbean toil under the bright sunshine at Nottingham.

Darren Sammy and Marlon Samuels started the second day’s proceedings. Trentbridge was again blessed with sunshine and it was further glorified with a Caribbean flair as the West Indies captain reached a Test ton amidst of a great delight.
