Windies vs NZ

New Zealand defeated the West Indies by 12 runs on the Duckworth Lewis (D/L) method to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Twenty20 series in Dominica, yesterday. Rain reduced the match to an 18-overs a-side rubber at Windsor Park with the home team recovering a precarious position of ten for two wickets in the third over to post 132 for eight thanks to a 39-ball 52 from Andre Fletcher.

New Zealand were 117 for four off 15 overs when the umpires finally decided that rain and poor light had made conditions unfit to continue.  The visitors were 12 runs ahead of the D/L equation at that stage after Brendon McCullum lashed 40 off 35 balls and Ross Taylor hit 28 off 20. Darren Sammy was the best bowler for the home team, grabbing three for 22 from three overs.
