Jamaica win, Leewards cry foul

Jamaica Franchise registered their third win in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Four-Day Professional Cricket League yesterday, with a four-wicket triumph over Leewards Hurricanes at Sabina Park.

Resuming on 160 for four and needing 35 runs for victory, Jamaica went on to score 195 for six, 35 minutes in the first session of the final day, with 9.1 overs bowled.

Left-hand opener John Campbell, 63 not out overnight, went on to add five runs to his total, while his counterpart, David Bernard, Jnr, added 17 to his overnight 33 to score an even 50.

The 21-year-old Campbell was first of the two wickets to fall when he holed out to a catch at deep mid-wicket off a bad ball from leg-spinner Collin Hamer with 11 runs needed.

Jaguars complete third victory by innings and 60 runs

FOLLOWING their stranglehold on proceedings from the opening day, the Guyana Jaguars maintained same through the last four days over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, to record an innings and 60-run victory in their fourth round West Indies Cricket Board/Professional Cricket League four-day contest at the Queen’s Park Oval yesterday. The home team, who like their opponents entered the fourth round with third-round losses, resumed the final day on 58 for 4, still needing 236 to avoid an innings defeat, with Yannick Cariah on 21 and Daniel St Clair 8, courtesy of two fours off Veerasammy Permaul the previous afternoon.

Barbados cool volcanoes for second straight victory

Just when it seemed like the Windward Volcanoes were about to erupt, the Barbados Pride somehow managed to cool them down.

For the second straight match, the Pride snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, edging the Volcanoes by 11-runs in their thrilling WICB Professional Cricket League encounter at Arnos Vale, St Vincent today.

Chasing 207 for victory, the home side was dismissed for 195 at 4:45 p.m., thanks to a courageous bowling effort from the visitors.

It was Barbados’ second nerve-racking win, after having defeated the Guyana Jaguars by two runs in the previous round.
