World Cup 2007 The following was released today by Cricket World Cup 2007 in response to the nonstop criticism of everything regarding the tournament:

1. There are very reasonably priced tickets available for CWC 2007 Matches. Tickets for the Group and Super 8 stages start as low as US$15 and US$25, respectively. These prices in many countries are lower than the comparable price for a regular One Day International match in the West Indies during the annual Test and One Day Series


2. For CWC 2003 in South Africa (pop. 44 million; per capita income US$12,000 pp) the overall average attendance per game was 10,451. Gross ticket revenue for CWC 2003 was US$10.5 Million. In comparison, CWC 2007 in the West Indies (pop. 5 million; per capita income US$5,500) attendance and ticket sales to date:

3. Music is always played at CWC 2007 matches. The DJs are in the main the same DJs who have traditionally played in the party stands at matches in the West Indies (Chickie in Antigua, etc.). There were great "parties" during the matches in Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada and Guyana where attendance was good and if West Indies was winning. There have also been lunch time concerts with Caribbean artistes during many of the matches.

4. Musical Instruments (e.g. drums, conch shells, horns) were not banned or prohibited. A registration process was in place for those wishing to bring such instruments to the stadium which has now been made much easier at the point of entry. Many fans have brought their musical instruments to matches and more are encouraged to come and join the party.

5. Persons are and were always permitted to bring their own food. Only oversized or hard sided containers and glass bottles were prohibited.
