Nominations in for new WICB president
Veteran St Lucian politician/diplomat, businessman and cricket administrator Julian Hunte is the only nominee to replace Ken Gordon as president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).Hunte, who previously served on the board of directors of Cricket World Cup 2007, is expected to be voted in formally at the WICB's AGM in Trinidad & Tobago next month-end.
According to a CMC Sports report, Jamaican Dave Cameron is nominated for the post of vice-president.
Val Banks, who served as VP under the last three WICB presidents, is not seeking reelection.
Hunte and Cameron reportedly have the backing of four of the six-member territories -- Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands and Windward Islands.
In the past decade, the WICB has had four presidents including Jamaican Pat Rousseau, Barbadians Wes Hall and Teddy Griffith, and Trinidadian Ken Gordon.
