Antigua & Barbuda will soon become the hub for a new twenty20 cricket competition.

This development comes after the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) confirmed the staging of a new tri-national competition.

The competition, tentatively dubbed the ABCA Independence Tri-20 Tournament, is set to run from October 7 to 15 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.

Regional powerhouse Jamaica and the Windward Islands have been named as the two invited teams to compete against host Antigua & Barbuda in the tournament to be played under lights.

President of the ABCA, Leon Rodney, confirmed the staging of the event, adding that the association is currently in the process of finalising a number of key factors associated with the competition.

The tournament, which will be played on an annual basis, is expected to fill a void within the region, where the scarcity of T20 competitions are concerned.
