W.I Needs Clean ODI Sweep
Fri, May 14, '04
The West Indies must win all three of its One-Day International matches at home against Bangladesh to improve its rating in the ICC ODI Championship table.
Currently occupying eighth position on the official ODI table with a rating of 101, the West Indies need a strong result in their favour to stay in touch with the band of teams that lie marginally ahead.
Within reach of the West Indies sits England in seventh position (105) and Pakistan (106) in sixth place.
If the West Indies win all of its matches at Kingstown and Grenada, its rating will improve to 102, while a 2-1 series win will see its rating drop to 99.
Bangladesh is currently eleventh in the official ODI table but goes into the Caribbean series having recorded its first ODI win since 1999 - an eight run victory against Zimbabwe in March.
Bangladesh only needs to win one match in the away series to improve its rating.
