Carib Cup Semis, Final Postponed
Thu, Feb 2, '06
The semi-final and final rounds of this year's Carib Beer-sponsored first class tournament has been pushed back to mid-April because of the West Indies Cricket Board's (WICB) cash flow crisis.
The semi-final round will now be played on April 7-10 and the final on April 15-19. The WICB says the decision to push back the games will help address its well-known cash flow issues, which caused a recent delay in sponsorship payments to cricketers.
The postponement of the championship round will also make sure the best players play in the games since the Test team will not be on international duty in mid-April. This helps to raise the standard and profile of the tournament, the WICB said.
It will also provide match practice to those players who would be considered for selection for the International Home Series against India.
