Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer is dead.

Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious by a housekeeper at the Pegasus hotel in Jamaica this morning and rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). He never regained consciousness.

Woolmer's sudden and shocking death comes less than 24 hours after Pakistan crashed out of the World Cup following a a loss to unfancied Ireland.

Pakistan team spokesman Parvez Mir told Pakistan television channels that Woolmer "had expired".

"We have contacted Bob Woolmer's wife in South Africa and have told her about the situation," added Mir.

Woolmer was last seen in public when he addressed the post-match media conference after his team's defeat to Ireland at Sabina Park.
