Is Wisden Dodging CaribbeanCricket.com?

Back in May, when the pay-per-view Webcast venture was announced for the Test and ODI series between West Indies and India, the editors of CaribbeanCricket.com requested an interview with Wisden.com executive Jamie Clifford to discuss the business end of the streaming broadcasts.

His simple but upbeat response was: "Do get in touch - I can help you out." So, we tested the Webcast service during the Test series and then hammered out a few questions, asking basic stuff about the service and the business structure. It appears (and this is just a guess) that our questions weren't exactly the pooh-pooh variety they expected. To date, despite numerous e-mails, Mr Clifford has been virtually incommunicado. As a service to our readers, CaribbeanCricket will now republish the list of questions submitted to Wisden.com:

1. Based on your projections for subscribers during the Test series, how would you rate the success of the Webcast venture as a viable business venture?

2. Did you exceed the initial projections for paid subscriptions?

3. Is this going to be a staple for all West Indies series (home and away) going forward? Or is this limited to home games where the WICB has the exclusive rights?

4. During the Test series, there were some minor connectivity/buffering issues that proved to be
quite a headache at times. How much of an obstruction was that at your end?

5. During the Antigua game, you provided refunds to subscribers who lost connectivity? Did this have a huge impact on your revenue projections?

6. What's the justification for the pricing structure of the ODIs? The prices listed seem noticeably higher than the prices for the Tests...

7. Are you worried that the ODIs might be overpriced and scare some subscribers away?

8. Who sets the pricing? Is this done solely by Wisden/BBC at their end or does the WICB office have a say?

9. Can you shed some light on what the revenue-sharing structure looks like? Is it an equitable
distribution?

Now, seriously, how hard were those questions that they would refuse to even acknowledge our numerous inquiries about the answers?
