Windies 'A' Crashes Back to Earth
Thu, Jun 20, '02
Could it have been the floodlights? Whatever it was, the West
Indies 'A' team looked completely out of sorts in the day/night
match against Sri Lanka, crashing to a seven-wicket defeat at Hove
on Wednesday.
The Caribbean side, which started off the tour in impressive
fashion, was bundled out for 77 off 26.1 overs with extras (22) top
scoring. The embarrassment batting performance included five
ducks...
Sri Lankan pacer Thudellage Fernando (4-30) did most of the
damage while leg spinner Upul Chandana collected 3-7 from 4.1
overs.
Sri Lanka knocked off the target in just 13 overs, finishing on 82
for three. Kumar Sangakkara top scored with 35. For the Windies
'A', Marlong Black, Jermaine Lawson and Gareth Breese each took a
wicket.
The next tour match is scheduled for Friday, June 19 against
Sussex.
