West Indian hopeful Devon Smith scored yet another century when he hit another classy ton on the opening day of the Windward Islands cricket tournament Friday.
Smith hit 147 in another impressive display as Grenada scored freely on the first day against Dominica, chalking up an impressive first innings total of 357.
Middle order batsman Kevil George, who score a century in last year?s tournament, made 66 and former West Indies wicket-keeper Junior Murray made 61.
The veteran orthodox leg spinner Roy Marshall, returning to competition after a one-year ban because of disciplinary action, picked up three for 108. Promising pacer Fernix Thomas, skippering his team for the first time, grabbed two for 56.
St. Vincent were 273 for 8 at the close of the first day of their game against St. Lucia.
Orlanzo Jackson, St Vincent?s 2003 Cricketer of the Year, top scored with 84 and Deighton Butler made 62.
Both Jackson and Butler are lower order bowling all-rounders who are considered crucial to Windward Islands chances in the regional first class competition this year.
Another likely important member of the Windward Islands team, opener Rommel Currency scored 29.
The pick of the St. Lucian bowlers was the West Indies Youth team all-rounder Darren Sammy who took three for 58.
