Merv Dillon

West Indian test players Brian Lara and Mervyn Dillon will play for Trinidad in their final round crucial Carib Beer Series Cup game against the Leeward Islands starting on Friday.

Trinidad and Tobago Cricket officials say the two who have just represented the regional team in the World Cup are making themselves available. Dillon was traveling with the team Tuesday, but Lara who had stopped off in England from South Africa has not yet arrived in the Caribbean.

Team officials say he will however join up with the team in St Thomas on Thursday.

St. Thomas is hosting its first ever first class match. Dillon replaces Theodore Modeste and Lara will replace Lincoln Roberts.

Trinidad and Tobago face a most-win situation against the Leeward Islands if they are to stand a chance in qualifying for the International Carib Beer Series.

The top four teams from the league stage go through.

Trinidad and Tobago are in fifth position on 30 points, but can qualify with an outright victory against the Leewards currently in fourth position on 34 points.

Based on the results of the final round any two of Guyana, Leewards and Trinidad can qualify for the final place. India A, seventh on 21 points, are also in with a statistical chance, with one game in hand.

In the final round of matches Windwards play Guyana, Barbados take on West Indies B and India A meet Jamaica.

Leewards - 34
Trinidad & Tobago - 31
