Sammy Should Retire.......

Hendra 2014-08-22 20:27:12

..If I was in Sammy,s place, I would retire from playing ODI's. To me its embarrasing to have a guy who has captained a team in all three formats, being dropped from a format and being relegated to carrying water.

I am not aware that this has ever being done to a player in any of the Test playing teams

Wat was embarrassing was not being an automatic pick on a team if not de captain.

Ah eh tink dat dere have one other Test playing team where dat was de case.

There is plenty cricket to be played.

lol

Sammy is and has always been a good squad player. A good man to have around the team but not as an automatic pick in the final XI. Certainly not in all 3 formats.

Sammy did NOT pick himself. I asked this question before, how many of you would turn down a promotion at work knowing there was someone more deserving of if than you?

Regardless of wether or not you agree with Sammy being in the team, looking in from the outside, the guy has been treated badly.

I don't HATE any cricketers the way some hate on this MB. I support the 11 that turn out at anytime, I don't always agree with the squad, but I support West Indies.

Saying that the team does look stronger without Sammy and I wish him well in his future endeavours. Hopefully cricket has provided a means to look after his family in the coming years.

Ok, maybe I should have said better balanced. I like Sammy and still think he has a lot to offer the West Indies in the shorter format of the game, but Pollard and Bravo has performed in this series, so Sammy has to sit for now.

Maispwi 2014-08-22 21:16:22

In reply to Commie

Not saying not. There may be games where he is a good fit but he will have to revert to bowling good lengths and tight lines or reinvent himself as a batsman.

Commie 2014-08-22 21:21:58

In reply to Maispwi

The thing is...when things look like this, the side looks set.

When they tour India and SA typically players will be swapped out etc as everything from temperament to technique gets exposed.

Personally I think Carlos Braithwaite should get a try.

The ODI team is pretty bad though and will get destroyed. No matter who plays.

Best blood some young cats.

that was candid and well put...

Ah eh basing anyting on dese games. Dis side does not have a proven batting attack. One superstar on the wane, a budding superstar and a number of other players looking to find dere niche who doh really inspire a lot of confidence in dere ability to score heavily.

The bowling is better but ah have my doubts about one of the bowlers who doh seem to be able to come back for a good second spell and doh seem fit enuff to bowl a straight ten and we need another slog overs bowler in de mix.

natty_forever 2014-08-22 21:40:39

In reply to Maispwi... here comes Russell.

Commie 2014-08-22 21:41:45

Gayle
Fletcher
Simmons
Bravo
Leon Johnson
Ramdin
Bravo
Braithwaite
Holder
Roach
Narine

You give up on Carter?

Ah wud keep Pollard so Johnson or Fletcher wud hav it hard but de selectors eh do us any favours by meking Bravo captain

Jimmy Adams?

He was treated badly wen he was made captain in all formats for an extended period of time widout being able to mek de team on merit.

It was always going to end dis way unless during de period he proved dat he could mek de team on merit.

But his bowling became non existent and it took him 3 years to mek any meaningful contribution wid de bat which was not enuff to keep him in de team in all formats.

There is enough time to try enough players before the WC.

The odd thing about you is that all you do, like a skunk, is show your backside and spray stink, and you don't seem to realise it isn't a strong point.

Contribute something of note or fcuck off...preferably into your hand, so that noone bears the terrible consequence of your genetics.

Commie 2014-08-22 23:54:27

Carter doesn't seem to be able to get a proper run in the Bim team.

Hopefully the extended season will serve him well.

Nope. You notice that eric rarely comes on a thread to do anything other than disparage.

The man perpetually angry. Ready to wipe out Palestinians in the back room and wedded to some odd conspiracy theories in here.

You know...when you in a real rum shop and the local drunk tells you not to buy a drink for some dude cause he unstable.

Thats eric. Even the drunk cyah take him.

Chrissy 2014-08-23 00:01:53

In reply to Maispwi

Correct and that was always the problem. Lloyd et al can love Pollard likkle more but if he is given the captaincy in any format and does not merit dat place dem will hear from me again.

Selection is based on merit.

Maispwi 2014-08-23 00:14:41

In reply to Chrissy

I am surprised dat de experiment lasted dat long but ah suppose dat having bit de bullet dey were hoping and praying it wud work out.

The problem was dat it while dey were playing de waitng game it was destroying de morale of other players in de team and those who cudn get in because one spot was taken up by a player who had to play regardless of his performances or lack thereof.

Again, typical loser mentality. Poor vocabulary and unsteady mental proclivities. Unable to hold a position when you believe it will make you appear like the fool you are. I am here to expose people like you, not to allow you to spew your your filth and try to clean it up while still purporting to be a cognoscenti. You are not and you will never be. You are like a little miserable chewawa. Nipping at the heel but unable to cause any real damage to because of your all around smallness.

When you show some sort of honesty in your proclamations I will ease up. You dishonest vile excuse of a human.

In reply to eric365

No eric. You are an asshole. The type who is dogmatic and very likely to hold a view to the grave because you are unwilling and unable to digest that talking sport is not an ideological battle.

So while the pronunciation of chihuahua might make it seem acceptable to write it as Chewawa you have the gall to talk about vocabulary and make an elementary mistake in your diatribe.

In the civilized world we call that irony.

Fuckwit.

But for Hilaire and Hunte – would Sammy have been made captain? In other words – was Sammy being made captain a “cricket decision”?

$ammy will certainly find employment as a cricket commentator. He has represented himself well in all appearances to date.

My only wish is that he would be confined to radio commentary so we won't have to be tortured by seeing him on television.
