IS It a problem that the World Cup is less than six months away and West Indies still have no head coach?
It depends on who is answering the question.
Michael Muirhead, chief executive of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) , as a typically cagey administrator, is relaxed about it.
“That would be considered a nice cut-off time to have a coach but we don’t plan to rush and get a new one just to say we have a coach for the World Cup,” he told the Barbados Nation, stressing that the sole objective would be to get the best man.
Daren Ganga, the former Test batsman, now television analyst, has the totally opposite view of a player.

I am sure the best available batting team will be selected for the World Cup, as the selectors do not have much options, the WI however, have to select the suitable captain for the event and that might be the bigger issue.

This would be the perfect time to engage the services of Robin Singh. He is from the Caribbean and fully understands the WI cricketing culture. He was responsible for elevating the Indian team in all formats. The same for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He has worked with the BPL and the SLPL. We have heard a lot of compliments from fellow WI players he has helped, to name a few, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith and Kieron Pollard.

Shiv Chanderpaul should be included in the ODI squad to tour India, SA and the WC. The frontline batsmen have trouble batting 50 overs. His ODI average is better than any current player playing for the WI. The county clubs in England have played him in all formats, because thay see a value in him.He is still extremely productive, and can be placed at the top of the order, with the other batsmen batting around him. He can be the glue to hold the innings together. He has actually done this in the past when he opened with Chris Gayle. The article by Tony Cozier exposes the weaknesses in the batting lineup.
