His feats were recently noted and Shimron Hetmyer, has clinched a lucrative sponsorship deal after overseas based Guyanese, Krishna Appiah, of Bronx New York and Ravi Etwaroo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cricket Zone and Trophy World, Castle Hill, Bronx New York, noted his achievements and agreed to sponsor the youth with gears and other types of support for the advancement of his career.

The deal was brokered by Captain of the ‘B’ Division Cricket team, Police Sergeant, Michael Newland, who observed Hetmyer’s discipline and work ethics over the years and admitted that he has been tremendously impressed.

The recognition is important for our youngsters, even if it is not big money.

You wouldn't want these youngsters to become ungrateful and greedy, would you?

I think this gesture, modest as it is, is very positive and more of it would be good for everyone.

I agree with, .but they should not write an article about a bat and seed guard donation. That is not sponsorship. smile

Is that what lucrative deals look like today? Those kinda of deals happen everyday without the long talk.

dem big talking cc.com regulars that complain all the time - do they ever pitch in with financial support?

Admin 2014-09-01 17:00:56

They give the man a bat and a glove worth about $150 and call it lucrative?!? These fuq'n newspapers need to have some pride in themselves.

If anything lucrative going in is the publicity the "sponsors" getting off of this

Narper 2014-09-01 18:18:42

Consequently, Mr. Newland handed over the first tranche of support, a cricket bat and a pair of batting gloves, to Hetmyer at a simple ceremony at the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, Friday afternoon last. The deal also entails that Hetmyer receives uniform and other equipment over time.

Hetmyer arrived at the Central Police Station accompanied by his father, former all-round cricketer and GuySuCo Sports Officer, Gladstone Hetmyer, to receive the gift. He expressed gratitude to his benefactor even as the senior Hetmyer echoed similar sentiments

Obviously....a little goes a far way for these folks....dem doan live in wealthy USA

If you so wealthy in the USA, you really have to seek publicity to give a youth some cricket gear? If I got a press release for everytime I sent a bag of gear to Guyana, I'd have my own newspaper section.

Never, sheer loud mouths and wannabe arseholes er mostly on here. These fellas only lambast and ridicule, few support their fellow villagers. When they do go they only pomp scene and such think it hard to put their hand in their pocket and support the youths.
I hear about them all the time.

I hope he said thanks.

My issue is with the press given to its dollar value.

These lucrative sponsorship guys will ask the youth to sweep the yard also
