Mason- David Oram in the chair
PEARSON says that Gabriel is being picked on pace...but still has plenty of work to be done.
I concur...Gabriel aint pretty to see running in.
Pearson calling for Shilly to get a play...I know BQ will like this.
He is also calling on Ramdin to play at 6 and step up.
In reply to powen001
Indeed. At least, there are still a few right-thinking people around.
Now if only I could get you to join the right-thinking.......
who is Oram in here??
wants to know bout Brathwaite or Braffit?
In reply to BatQuake
I dont have anything against Shilly..
I pick my battles
In reply to powen001
I pick my battles
...........it is said that a good boxer who has never been defeated is not one who beats everyone he comes up against but rather one who picks fights with only persons he knows he can beat.
In reply to BatQuake
There is some truth to that.
I dont give Shilly any heat cause I think he has a constant , persistent attitude of always attacking the stumps...I respect that.
NOw the bent arm talk...I leave that to the ICC pros
In reply to powen001
..................
P.S. - By the way, how's the weather? Partly cloudy skies with the full moon preparing to rise?
In reply to BatQuake
God is showing off His creation...thats all I can tell you boss. It is beautiful nights in BIM.
Wayne Daniel???? Who used to bowl about 40 no balls per inning?
In reply to Larr Pullo
Wayne is credited with helping many a local bowler...
I honestly wasnt aware he had a no ball problem tho.
In reply to Larr Pullo
you know what they say..
Those who cant do..teach.
In reply to powen001
He would go through periods where he just couldn't land his front foot behind the line...
You can't pick a man to coach a player because he has an ungainly run up like Daniel....
In reply to powen001
In reply to Larr Pullo
well that makes it funny as heck then cause Pearsons argument is that that is exactly why he should work with Gabriel.
what the...
In reply to Larr Pullo
I reject the argument that we dont have the quality.
its simply a different mindset of player that needs addressing..first and foremost.
In reply to powen001
Nah de diamond is probably a good coach. I just find it funny that that is the reason he's using to recommend Daniel....
In reply to Larr Pullo
Well you floored me with that "local" knowledge.
I didnt know he had no ball problem..never once heard anyone raise that...strange..cause Bimmers dont let yuh forget your faults...ever.
In reply to powen001
If yuh non bajan perhaps.
Daniel had a massive no ball problem. Was quite fast tho
Thanks Oram....
In reply to imusic
honestly..never heard that....egg on my face mate.
doesnt change my opinion of him tho..hes a good lad.
I mean..if you think about Philo Wallace...hearing him as a commentator..versus knowing how he used to go out there and swipe away his hand...lol...
you get the picture.
In reply to imusic
Powen was playing rounders at his girls school them days...
In reply to Larr Pullo
man behave...I was heavy into Lawn Tennis and spiting my dad by not playing cricket...BC Lara pulled me back in...long story.
In reply to powen001
Who's this dude talking with the plum accent?
In reply to Larr Pullo
i missed his intro...
waiting to hear one of them say who it is....voice sounds familiar and I am tempted to say one of the BIM legends...but not sure.
If not Gabriel who? Any bowler who you wanted to take to India or SA should be playing in this series.
In reply to Larr Pullo
agreed ..more of the same?
picking and trying instead of developing a solid cadre...
In reply to powen001
You get embarrassing every day
In reply to sudden
funny how honesty is void of embarrassment...
try it some time mate
so how come you never chat bout Daniels over stepping de crease?
In reply to powen001
Did it come up? He was also clumsy and once fell over whilst running in. Cozier said the wind tripped him up. His name is Daniel by the way
In reply to sudden
wait..tell me if you recognise this old fella in the studio with Oram and Pearson.
In reply to sudden
man..you serious??
All I have ever heard was good thing s about Daniel..
many local bowlers who made it to Windies gave him credit ..met him and he seems altogether..but I never once heard anybody rag him about his so called no ball problem
In reply to sudden
A man seh Gabriel clumsy and Daniel was a clumsy bowler, so Daniel should coach Gabriel....
congrats to Kraigg indeed.
and he still hungry IMUSIC
says he believes he can do more with spin..so He warming up his bowling machine.
come on man..Picasso bout masterpieces indeed!
In reply to powen001
Daniel is a top bloke, the no ball problem was in a time when peope didn't use to pay such things much mind...
In reply to sudden
you know that TINO credited Daniel??
no response necessary
In reply to Larr Pullo
Cozier talked him out of test cricket. He was struggling badly and Cozier gave him no break. He had a good reputation in UK
hearing this piece of crap...steupse...
Gayle aint going no where!
He can hug dat up and suck on that!!
333 in yuh tail ...all o wunnuh got to chill
Gayle to the WORLD!!
In reply to sudden
I know Daniel used to scare a lot of men. We had lots of tools then though, so even without Coziers crap he might not have played more than the ten tests he played.
In reply to sudden
and to think that when he done with Gayle.. he gine after Shiv...
he mussee Hilaire cousin
In reply to Larr Pullo
oh snap..
after cussing Gayle...
He now supporting Shiv...for IRONICALLY having world class stats!
the man is a speaking CONTRADICTION in LOGIC!
In reply to Larr Pullo
That is why Cozier was giving him no break becos of what we had in the cupboard
In reply to powen001
Gayle and Shiv are much different players. If you expect Gayle to graft and bat your team into a game, you might as well have aother think coming...it's not going to happen.
In reply to sudden
Clearing the way for Anderson Cummings no doubt....
In reply to sudden
i suggesting to you that we still have plenty in the cupboard...but managing fellas back when we were lads and this current crop is like chalk and cheese.
so we end up losing lots more potentials to other things...plus the collective culture of Anti authority and putting up with BS from inconsistent men.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Haha more like Croft, Garner etc
In reply to powen001

In reply to sudden

lol
you went digging up bout me and only got a bucket load of good things...
no dirt here except I once dated five women at the same time as a man whore..
Praise the lord He plucked me from my slutty ways...all a result of going to a school with a 25% versus 75% ratio of boys to girls.. for a few years.

For use of coaches to help players. And I am saying dats too late. By then the players have been playing for at least 5 years. Dats a long time for muscle memory.
In reply to sudden

In reply to powen001
I know a lot of people at sagicor
In reply to Maispwi
muscle memory of bad habits..is still bad habits.
someone said today..the real value is in CUTTING out the excess shots that get them out..and losing other silly actions...to focus on whats working...that way winning was more probable.

Mason didnt make the connection..was supposed to call in.
oh well.
Kirk is a joker. Can't bat can't catch
Daniel was a terror at youth cricket level. He had nuff man runnin in U 19 cricket dem times.
But the real terror from Bim to this day was Sylvester Clarke. Bim produced plenty fast bowlers....but none (Charlie Griffith was before my time) was as downright MEAN AND NASTY as he was.
In reply to imusic
up to today someone asked me about Charlie..I was with Wes Hall this morning...recent surgery on his back and needs assistance to walk.
but his Spirit is still as lively as ever.
HERE'S AN INTERESTING ARTICLE ON DANIEL DURING HIS TIME AT MIDDLESEX
The language in which they spoke, however, took a new turn, often involving the assets of Neolene the lunch waitress. Few people understood the conversation between the quintet:
Mnnn, she raggin it, her body smooth, her tighs dem luk-sha-ree.
Whas happenin, you bin chatting breeze, Raas-ole?
Listen up, I aint no Raaaas-ole, Bamba Claart.

Both Neil Williams & Wilfred Slack were from SVG . Slack died on a Tour to Africa . Neil Williams died in SVG .
I never met Wilfred Slack , but I did meet Neil Williams , who started an
Academy in SVG for youngsters , that is still operating .
I was reliably informed that Sunil Ambris went to that Academy . In the
5 years I was in SVG , I had conversations with Neil many times , he was a very pleasant person , and was always approachable .
In reply to imusic
Good read there, itito. In my early years returning to Bim from the UK every crop over in the mid to late 80s, Daniel used to be like a gigolo at After Dark.
In reply to sudden
How u mean "like"??
In reply to powen001
He was like a hawk then. Saw him try to steal a piece Phil Simmons had but Phil won out in the end.
In reply to sudden
It had crop over dem times?
When did it start?
In reply to sudden
Never mind. Found this on Wikipedia
In reply to imusic
Started long time but really got going in the mid to late 70s in my view but Powen would be better able to address that. Man the 80s were the best years fuh crop over, music wise, in my opinion. We even had a fella called P'oui who couldn't sing to save he life
In reply to sudden
The 80's were good. Gabby and Grynner had big hits in Trini.
Then later on came Square One and what was known as The Bajan Invasion.
In between that...there was a time when Kassav from France (but we all thought they were from Guadeloupe) used to repeatedly sell out the QPO whenever they came to Trini. Think they even forced the relocation of an international match because "Kassav playing"
Nice times
In reply to imusic
They are only from France because thats where they registered ( back then because of Sacem for IP purposes)but they were all from Guadeloupe, a couple from Martinique and the two French horn guys.
Still playing too.
In reply to sudden
you so bloody wicked..
ha ha ha ha
Crop over only really drop bout here in Solidly when Gabby finally had a rival in 1982 from the Red Plastic Bag ..Edwin..in 95 changed the game yet again.
It was Square ones Alison Hinds that "discovered" Poui..dont mind you Sudden..bout the place guessing ...as usual.
My favourite year was 89, the Canadian Possee.

bim had carnival in the 60 &70, but all the bajans went to T&T to play mas.
the late 60 &70 were great for bands clashes between Bim and T&T, the duchie brothers vs Cliffton glasgrow, the barbados troubadours vs T&T trabadours
In reply to sudden
He was like a hawk then. Saw him try to steal a piece Phil Simmons had but Phil won out in the end.
Was it Medium rare or well done?
Hehehehe!
