Following the Three-Day contest which ends on Saturday, the Antiguans and Barbudans will take on Montserrat in a 50 Overs contest starting September 28.
The team also includes four other senior players with West Indies team experience, in wicket keeper-batsman Devon Thomas, pacer Gavin Tonge, leg spinner Anthony Martin and batsman Austin Richards Jr.
Head coach and former West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Ridley Jacobs believes the team will do well in both formats.
We thought about Devon Thomas but you know the situation with him so we think we need to give him a little break, but I think Sylvester is the ideal person to do the job. Its a very experienced team and the guys that we selected have really performed well over the past couple of weeks that we have been training, he said.
We had a few trial games and they really came up to par and I think its only fair to give them an opportunity to really go and display their skills, he added. The other members of the squad are Alzari Joseph, Rakeem Cornwall, Stanny Simon, Hayden Walsh Jr, Orlando Peters, Gavin Williams, Jamal Fernandez, Mali Richards and Juari Edwards
Stanny Simon is a very interesting prospect.
In reply to Commie
Could you tell us a little bit about him.
In reply to Fivestar
He is actually Dominican who moved to Antigua young. 6 ft 5, plays in league cricket in England and for Liberta in Antigua village cricket.
Pretty quick. He and Alzarri Joseph will be a handful. Joseph is only about 18 and pushing 6 ft 6.

In reply to TheTrail
season isn't over
In reply to tc1
next season - still have one more year to go in this place and then back to Toronto.
In reply to TheTrail
League cricket...not county cricket.
Its like Div 3 football.
In reply to Commie
If Stanny Simon from Dominica, how come he playing in Leewards trials? Is the franchise FC cricket thing already in effect?
In reply to Commie
Thanks.
Will take a look next season.
Update:
Anguilla vs St. Maarten at Ronald Webster Park are 130/3
Lindel richardson 75
In reply to imusic
He just born DA, grew up in Antigua
In reply to imusic
Nothing new. Windward players have been playing in the Leewards league for a long time. Darren Sammy, Adam Stanford just to name a few.
In reply to imusic
There are over 10k Dominicans in Antigua.
The likelihood of a Dominican playing cricket for Antigua is pretty high given the pop size.
In reply to voiceofreason... which side you carrying?
And no, a not going chat crap bout GM.
I have links in Antigua, so I backing them.
In reply to natty_forever
Anguilla or Nevis. Most importantly looking for some new talent to emerge and good scores.
In reply to voiceofreason... any debutants?
In reply to voiceofreason
Wow! Nice to hear the tournament actually start. May the best team win. I do hope some new talent can emerge.
In reply to brownskin
Any young players to look out for ?
In reply to pkriston
You should be wondering why there is one in the 1st place.
Anguilla 200 all out
Lyndell Richardson 85
Shane Burton 33
St. Maarten 75/5
Leblanc 12*
The game is being played in SXM and not AXA as previously mentioned.
more here
The home team was stuttering at 75 for five after day one. The not out batsmen were Moreland Le Blanc on 12 (3x4) and Damien Williams yet to open his account. The home team started off the chase badly after losing Sherwin Peters for five in the fourth over.
Michael Lewis, in his first match for St. Maarten, was joined by Akeem Charles and the two added 45 runs for the second wicket. Charles was aggressive for his 22, which included five fours, but his dismissal came when he poked tentatively at a well pitched up delivery. After his dismissal, the visitors grabbed three key wickets for just 20 runs. Lewis was adjudged lbw for 22 off 56 balls (2x4), Romain Doodnauth was bowled for three and Colin Hamer was given out lbw for naught.
Le Blanc, who is a nucleus in the batting line-up, looked smooth and silky in his stroke play. The boundaries he hit displayed signs that the talented batsman was returning to form and confidence. His first scoring shot was a crisp square-drive that left a trail of dust on its way to the boundary. He and Williams will be hoping to string a partnership together as the only significant partnership, so far, is for the second wicket.
The local batsmen struggled against the wily off spinner Chaka Hodge and left arm spinner Yannick Leonard. So far, Hodge has registered bowling figures of 7-3-15-2 and Leonard 9-4-21-2. The other wicket taker was Marlon Bryson with one for 19 in five overs.
No Chesney Hughes and I am not hearing of Kelbert Walters. I believe Chesney is still in England as that season should end this weekend.
In reply to Commie
Are there any left in Dominica?
No wonder allyuh give shiv citizenship. Allyuh have dat in common wit Guyanese
In reply to voiceofreason
Both were injured in fact Walters has knee problems and is out for the season.
Sxm 266 Williams 107*
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Wow! What a comeback by SXM!!! Damien Williams 107* How much did the frenchman make? Leblanc?
Two big blows for Anguilla by losing Walters and Hughes.

Is the associations in the different islands doing enough?
Williams who resumed his innings from naught and his team in a troubling position of 75 for five, hit his first century in national colours. He mixed defense with calculated aggression to slam 15 fours and three fours in his highly entertaining innings.
Daily Herald report
David slammed five fours and three sixes for an explosive 52 off just 35 balls.
The main wicket takers for Anguilla were Yannick Leonard with four for 62 in 25 overs and Hodge with three for 59 off 14 overs.
With 66 runs behind, Captain of Anguilla, Lyndell Richardson started off in ultra aggressive mode. He clobbered five sixes and two fours in 35 off only 26 balls. His aggressive batting led to his downfall with the total on 46. His opening partner Jovanni Gumbs was dismissed three runs later for 10 off 31 balls. They slipped into further trouble when Kacey Carty was bowled for two to make the score 57 for three.
5 x6= 30 2x4=8??
In reply to brownskin
Good to see a youngster so resilient and playing with a level head. Scored 72 of 107 runs in boundaries which is expected at the Carib lumber park.
Cannot find the Nevis Team. Thought that was your job as assigned by IYSN. You slacking now? I wonder if KP recover?
Found this:
Three of Nevis youthful cricketers performed creditably on the weekend, as the Nevis trial squad continued its preparations for the upcoming Leeward Islands tournament. All three players were part of the Leeward Islands under 19 team that participated in the recent regional tournament. Ross Powell scored 41 and 17 in his two innings; Colin Archibald picked up a five-fer and Theron Bussue got to 31 in his only knock. The match was played on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st at the ET Willet Park. Summarized scores: Tonito Willets X1: 101 all out: Ross Powell 41; Wasim Mintos 31 Zavero Forbes 2 for 28; Justin Athanaze 2 for 16 Adelvin Phillips X1: 250 all out: Akito Willet 145; Junior Williams 66; Kejel Tyson 47; Justin Athanaze 47; Theron Bussue 31 Colin Archibald 5 for 74; Tonito Willet 2 wickets Tonito Willets X1: 37 for 2: Ross Powell 17 Match drawn.

Dalston Tuitt had top-scored for Montserrat with 85, while Hayden Walsh Jr picked-up three for 24 bowling for Antigua & Barbuda. At close of play on day one, the home team was 322 for three off 52 overs.
Would not be a LICA Tournament without some controversy:
Two Antiguan players are under investigation for claims that they participated in domestic night cricket while the FC Match vs Montserrat was in progress:
The official, who requested anonymity, said several reports have reached the teams management staff that two players, Rahkeem Jimbo Cornwall and Alzari Joseph, took the field at Dredgers on Thursday night for Left Out in an ongoing taped ball competition.
Cornwall had, earlier that day, represented the senior team at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds (SVRCG). Joseph, however, was not selected in the 11.
Investigations, according to the official, would most likely be completed over the weekend, at which time a decision would be reached as to a course of action.
Report
Chaka Hodge and Yannick Leonard spin Anguilla to victory over SXM by 10 runs.
