Holder - Is he really as good as everyone touts

Pacy 2014-09-26 04:28:44

Absurd bowling... He bowls six full floating deliveries even after seeing that there is no movement and the batsmen is just hitting him easily.

Holder has to understand that he just cant keep floating the ball all the time without any thought process whatsoever.

He is being compared with Ambi because of his height. But Ambi will not take hitting like this nicely and would have peppered the batsmen well

Holder suffers from the same problem that all of West Indian players, except Shiv Chanderpaul, suffers from. Lack of a brain.
So called cricket experts see this team turning the corner. It is not going to happen. There is NO bowler, in the Caribbean, capable of bowling 6 decent balls in one over. NONE.
No Captain can set a field to our bowlers. There is no brain, no discipline, no consistency,no thought process.

Not that I disagree with your general point but which bowler in the world can bowl six decent balls in an over- not to even get into what is a decent ball

Pacy 2014-09-26 06:58:04

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

I was under the impression that he was the most Learned and effective of the lot... Never expected him to float it 6 balls in a row.

When I say he needs to learn to Hit the deck everyone is up in arms stating that he is looking for movement. But at his height if is going to keep floating the ball he cannot play in non seaming pitchs in the Subcontinent or elsewhere

It's T20 cricket. The best bowlers around would take a beating in this format from time to time.

Bravo was good the other day for Chennai though with his 3 wickets when everyone else was hit out the park.

I like Holder but as I said on another thread – Holder needs to use his height and hit the deck harder.
He bowls too many floaters. Short bowlers like Roach can glide the ball through, but this will not work for guys like Holder.

If he doesn’t fix this asap he will soon join the list of mediocre WI bowlers!!!

Am surprised he aint correct this yet!!!

Doh study it...this is the same Pacy who said the same bullcrap about Roach.

The next bullcrap she/he will come with is: how Rampaul was great at U15 and Gabriel's record is top notch.

These effing cunnies have no shame...!

Trex 2014-09-26 10:29:29

Some of you harmchair hexperts should look into some cricket coaching instead of wasting your talents on this mb.

With so many fast bowling experts on this thread it is a wonder why we don't have many more fast bowlers to choose from.

Bigdog2 2014-09-26 11:04:07

With that performance, Holder open the door for Carlos Brathwaite. Same can be said for Dorwich and Shai Hope.

Andy99 2014-09-26 11:48:41

Holder is good (when you looking at it from OUR(WI) pov) but he ain't no where near as good as some hype him up to be on this MB.

Scar 2014-09-26 12:51:48

When I read he is compared to Ambie because of his height... well that did it.

.. I think we interpret wrongly at times, I think they meant, they hope he could become like an Ambi or a Big B because he already has height.

JamMack 2014-09-26 14:39:02

He needs coaching from Big Bird, Colin Croft and Ambi. He is a Talent with a big upside. No pun intended smile

Thank you sir! There is a learning curve for young players and boy bowling may be the hardest discipline in cricket to perfect.

camos 2014-09-26 16:48:55

lack of experience, should not be leading the attack, his lack of experience also accounted for a failed runout at a crucial stage.

He does not want to put in the work that will make him excel.

I haven't seen anyone tout Holder as really good... rolleyes rolleyes

I think folks see the promise though...I have always said that I am more impressed with his batting than his bowling...it is only recently his bowling impressed me a bit...and I thought still think that he is maturing well...he got lots of work to do though...

Holder, brath and Dowrich have outperforming all of these youngsters and are quite impressive when stack up against the regional youth

I can believe that....

A short while ago, former NZ pacer Simon Doull was discussing the problems with Holder. He said that Holder is all arms and legs, and not much else.

He noticed that Holder doesn't jump much on delivery, and his front leg collapses, so as a result, the ball comes out without much pace. In addition, he doesn't use his muscles to deliver - no input from the back or the torso.

He's got a long way to go....

I completely agree and I am not concerned about the runs he leaked... I am concerned about his complete lack of aggression and fire that is necessary to be a proud fast bowler.

Da isa tall ad man yo jump in dat likkle crease. Mucho noballs would result. Most 6'6 to 6'8 bowlers shoukdnt have to do as much as shorter dudes to get lift, loop etc. Besifes if he aint use his muscles, back snd torso (body) the ball aint mekkin it half pitch. Dem experts does try yo over analyse or show off too much.

Dem used to say Holding delivery was not as most and wonder how he generated such pace

Holder's first over...fastest ball was 130kph. Everything else was in the 120s or less...that's Sammy-like pace.
