Allan, padner I honestly and really hope that the IPL bars these guys from any future IPL events (not that I wish the IPL itself survives for too much longer).

In reply to Gupta I hope they dont waste it! Biting the goose that lays your golden eggs chases it away or kills it.

Technically the IPL is the modern day WI player's county cricket and walking out on them is indeed suicide.
You really should not cut your nose to spite your face as they say.

IPL could consider ban on Windies rebels

MUMBAI, India, CMC – Indian authorities are considering an Indian Premier League ban on West Indies players after the Caribbean one-day side walked out on the tour of India today, the Press Trust of India has reported .

Scar 2014-10-17 23:42:44

In reply to Runs Are they contracted long term? If its one year contracts with options to renew IPL simply lets the contracts run out, no? Is it stipulated in the IPL constitution/rules etc that they must "bid" for WI players!

To those crying restraint of trade that will be if there is no where else to earn a cricket living;I think english, RSA,OZ have club/county but do our cricketers meet their standards enough to oust locals?

bravos 2014-10-18 13:13:14

And if the IPL bans them they sure can attract some big money investor to start another tournament with an exclusive Caribbean flavor with real non-generic Caribbean cheerleaders, featuring some of the most popular T20 players in the world in a high energy Carnival like atmosphere. Players like Narine,Gayle,Pollard,Rampaul,Simmons,Bravo,Sammy,Samuels,Smith to name a few,and a plethora of young upcoming stars who have one time or another showed their potential.

Some of you guys so small minded, our T20 world champions can carry their weight in any tournament, and their absence from what would tantamount to a depleted and largely boring IPL would create a natural void that they themselves would gladly fill.

A simple and unstoppable theory in basic economics and commerce would be manifested...phew..

Lol sooo much small minded people here..stay in allyuh lil box of an existence and STFU.wink

Allana allana, you up mate?

Patel has drawn the line at barring players from the West Indies from taking part in the cash-rich Indian Premier League, according to a report in the Mumbai-based Mid-Day newspaper. “Our problem is with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and not their players,” Patel told the newspaper. - See more at: here

Hmmm sounds familiar...You mean like the financially strapped CPL? Come on be serious now.
Add to that which Investor would take a chance on these money grabbers who have the audacity to walk off in the middle of a tour? You serious? They might well just walk off in the middle of the T20 Tournament too.

Stanford was the beginning, but he certainly doesn't have to be the end.

Remember it's T20 freedom fighter cricket, tournament would be over before you know it and they seem to do well with their BIG PAY rollers .

Not really, once them stars full the IPL team revenue, them won't care. Only how them go get ah ban, BCCI gotta pressure the IPL teams. Once BCCI wheel its power, the IPL teams will bow.

That kinda money could be raised easily here..

Plenty Trini boys in the mix yinno..and if it come down to we boys being blanked by the IPL,State/Corporate T&T wouldn't like nothing better than seeing T&T boys in a mix they can dominate, and then it's just a matter of time before the big international entities sign up. It's an easy sell with huge socio-economic potential.

Local and indigenous entities such as this can get that off the ground, with BP,BHP,Repsol,Atlantic,PCS to name a few possible signatories..

Serious money round here..

I don't doubt Windian talent or value to IPL.

I disagree with the implication that organizing a large scale event - with attendant audiences - is such an easy thing to do.
