I would like to take the opportunity to clarify some of the inaccurate statements that has been circulating the media regarding the India tour 2014.
Much of the reporting on this situation seems to be concentrating primarily on me and not on the fact that the action taken was in concert with all of the members of the squad. Only of late it appears that the action was taken by all but one of the WI squad in India.
I wish to state for the record that all correspondence sent and decisions taken were with the full agreement and consent of the players on tour including the current test captain Mr Denish Ramdin and the T/20 Captain Mr Darren Sammy. It was agreed that someone needed to correspond with WIPA after we were presented with the match/tour contract in India when it became evident that the terms and conditions were very different from what we were accustomed to and expected. The team members met and I, as Captain, was nominated and accepted the responsibility to correspond on behalf of the players on tour and I will continue to do so as designated.
I note the comments attributed to Mr. Marlon Samuels from media reports and wish to state that Mr. Samuels was invited to and did attend the majority of meetings with the players on tour. We extended an invitation to Mr. Marlon Samuels with the full knowledge that he is not a member of WIPA but was an interested party. Mr. Samuels contributed vigorously to the discussions held and indicated clearly, at that time, that he would stand with any decision taken by the team. I am therefore shocked to see the statements, if true, that have been attributed to Mr. Samuels.
I want to say on behalf of the players in the squad, while we are grateful for the tremendous support and understanding shown to us by our colleagues, friends and fans around the world and in particular those in the Caribbean and India, we recognize that a few have attempted to put the blame squarely on the players without the full knowledge of the facts. This is regrettable since a few persons are making statements without knowing all the relevant facts. In time we believe all the facts will come to light.
We do not wish to make any further statements on this matter since the players on tour (except Mr. Samuels) with some additional players who did not tour India have appointed Counsel to represent them in this matter.
We look forward to a speedy resolution and that our concerns, and that of all players including the first class players, are addressed in a satisfactory and timely manner.
Sincerely,
Dwayne Bravo

Haha. Watch the players dem turn pon dem selves now.
You sure got that right. The ONLY people GREEDY self-serving persons are loyal to are themselves ONLY.
If the WICB handle this (uuuuuummmmmm)......'well', there might be no need for further discussions as the players via disgruntlement will ask for forgiveness from the WICB and fall back in line.
P.S. - I wonder who wrote this particular letter. Why dem pointing out that Samuels not a part of WIPA but he interested? You catch what I trying to say......

What I would like you to politely ask him is why finishing the tour, especially after playing 3 of the 4 (one cancelled) ODI matches was not an option?
I think no amount of information will change the fact that some people think the West Indies should have finished the tour and then taken any and all action immediately afterwards.
I believe the players have a legit grievance.

MEMO to the WICB: Observe the proceedings 'smartly'. I have a feeling dem players going to end up solving this matter on their own and those left standing will return with their tails between their legs.
MEMO to Marlon Samuels: Get on KLAS or some news/sports outlet quick with your rebuttal. I know you ain't afraid to say what you have to say.
MEMO to the West Indian players: Since all you end up now having to seek legal council instead of finishing the tour, I have a feeling that by the time dem lawyers in the Caribbean finish with all you, the WICB might well have to loan all you some money to buy bread and cube cheese.
MEMO to Dinanath Ramnarine - I have a feeling that YOUR GAME IS OVER!!!

Did Marlon not mentioned him in his interview and claim he DID NOT ATTEND most of the meetings?
Speaking on PowerPlay on Power 106 FM, the Jamaican batsman said his focus was on playing cricket and as a result, he did not attend most of the meetings, which were organised by One-Day captain, Dwayne Bravo.

My mind whispered to me and told me that it is possible that some of the players may have gone along with the strike matter so as to avoid ending up in the bad book with their One Day Captain.
But now fellas back home and able to think on their own, dem maybe realizing how ridiculous the decision to abandon the tour was and fellas trying to bail out now.
De Bajan contingent apparently having some thought of second thoughts; Samuels saying him not in dem fellas strike ting;.........(who next going to appear trying to disassociate themselves from strike machination I wonder?). Stay tuned y'all...

Standing with any decision taken by the team is not the same thing as agreement with the decision. A poor attempt at a Jesuitical argument.
I did predict on another thread five days ago that it was most likely that fault-lines would develop between the players with international T20 contracts and those without.

That letter reads like a shot across the bows of other players thinking of breaking ranks. Now that they are back home, lots of people likely are in the players' ears giving them all sorts of advice.

Someone is lying and i have a gut feeling it's..
As well, Bravo was Captain of the tour and leader of the players and thus I hold him responsible for the decisions taken by him and the players to - not practice and be reluctant to start and complete some matches as reported in the press. King Curtly was reported to have begged them to take the field..
And Oh, how did he Bravo, calculate that most of the Caribbean is supporting his action to NOT PLAY in the middle of a tour? Why did he think that ONLY A FEW are criticizing him? Did he take a poll?
I think Mr. Bravo was naive and selfish when he took industrial action over a paltry $35,000 on a tour he agreed to undertake. I think he did not calculate the wider damage. Perhaps he was not capable of doing so?
His letter has done little to convince me he is a responsible and professional leader..

$35K per day for mediocre players are you sure Boss? Dis sounds excessive. I don't have the documents so I rely on the news sites for info.. Journalists should do their jobs but increasingly they don't so I hesitate when I rely on them..
If I read this correctly, the millionaire Medicore Players brought the House of West Indies Cricket down, because of $35K, and principle, whilst the rest of us are scraping gravy from our pan cups?

Ryan, I believe that, like me, you are a trained observer and that you will have observed certain things about this letter.
Here are my observations.
Brave DID NOT write this letter. That much is clear. Pellucid. This letter is a lawyer's letter.
This letter is written by a lawyer, perhaps the same one that has been retained by those team members who have "retained counsel") (Note for Bat Quake: not "council").
If you remember the language, construction, grammar, tone and drift of the first two letters, this one has absolutely no resemblance to them.
So while we can debate over whether it was Bravo or Dinas who wrote those two, we can be indubitably satisfied that this was not written by either of them. I have seen hundreds of these lawyer letters to know one the moment it appears.
The conclusion then (or one of them) must be that the striking "players," having jettisoned WIPA, are now trying to create their own new collective bargaining agent -- through a legal process.
All I will say on this aspect is that any lawyer would be glad to get some of that money!

Mr. Samuels contributed vigorously to the discussions held and indicated clearly, at that time, that he would stand with any decision taken by the team.
In other words Mr Samuels was very vocal in disagreeing with a strike and wanted to play on but would accept the majority decision
