More to come.
West Indies Cricket is dead dead dead!
President of the Anguilla Cricket Association and Vice President of LICA, Ralph Hodge, said a letter signed by members of the team was delivered to the association by manager Rodney Reid last week, outlining the teams concerns.
The Anguilla cricket team sees Montserrat as not part of the finals set-up, Antigua of course, in both competitions and then St Kitts and Anguilla in the other. They talk about unaffordable extra costs; the players resent the journey by boat to Montserrat and there has been quite a bit of concerns with the Anguilla players regarding reports with some sort of renewed volcanic activity in Montserrat and those were the reasons given to the association why they have a problem in traveling to Montserrat, he said.
What manner of skuntery is this? Anguilla did not know that Montserrat was the location of the finals before the Tournament?

From the start of the tournament we know the finals would have been in Montserrat so once we got to the finals we knew we would have to go to Montserrat so we were preparing for that. We have actually been training very hard for this final because this is what we were really playing for, to get to the finals and win the finals and now that it happens we are not going to (play) in the finals, its kind of disappointing, Jacobs said.
The final of the 50-over tournament will be played as scheduled between arch-rivals Antigua & Barbuda and St Kitts at the Little Bay, Montserrat, on November 2.

Imagine two little dots cannot agree, you would think they would jump at the chance to play any cricket given the limited options. In addition, if they can't travel such a short distance in such small a country, you have to wonder, if they deserve to play cricket at all.
In this day and age, they have concerns about travelling a short distance.
Wow.

Let not your ignorance get the better of you. The participants of the competition came from six islands: Montserrat, Antigua, Anguilla, St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Nevis. You don't just get up with your gear and catch a bus and play a game. To get to Montserrat from Anguilla one must first fly to Antigua (40 minutes) and then take a boat/ Plane (20mins/1hr) from Antigua to Montserrat . It is very expensive and time consuming but still they knew this from the outset and the only valid concern they may have is the volcanic disturbance. Even that I do not know of any recent disturbances there.

They talk about unaffordable extra costs;
It would be nice to know what additional costs the Players have to pay. One would think that all the costs are absorbed by the Anguilla Association. Mr. Anguilla could probably fill us in.
Nobody cares about the fans. The Game is dead.

Now, St. Kitts is saying they have no money to travel to Montserrat; so this fake tournament may see Antigua winning the double without taking the field.
What a sham!!!!!!

Indeed! They should pull the plug and let it die.
To be honest though, many folks just can't take that boat ride to and from Montserrat. On a bad day everyone from captain to cook will throw up. Hardly good preparation for a finals.

Poor Montserrat!!!! What is our sin? Are we the dogs of the region? We have traveled to all the other countries to play over the last few years with no complaints. Now it our turn to host the finals there is issue with that. The ferry is funded by the British Government and whether 1 or 200 persons are on the ferry all the seats are paid for. The cricketers would travel for next to nothing. It is really a sad event. When your supposedly closest brothers treat you like shite it hurts the most. Don't know why we bother with this cricket thing, it all seems hopeless. Maybe the inability to separate ourselves from this damn sport is our real curse.

No cricketing benefit there. The result will be the Leewards continued poor performance come the 4 day tournament.
Really sad, and the decline seems to be gathering pace

Sweet as the fans lose due to a farce of a Tournament. Leewards players would be most likely ill prepared...Nagico will pull their sponsorship, probably the last Sponsor we had...Cricket is dead in the Leewards and in extension the West Indies. Allyuh think this is joke but I serious.

Probably guaranteed transport between Antigua and Montserrat. This location was decided beforehand and any objections that they had should have been done then.
