JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – West Indies Cricket Board announced today that left-handed batsman Narsingh Deonarine will replace Assad Fudadin in the West Indies team for the ongoing three-match Test Series against South Africa.
Fudadin suffered a fracture of the right little finger during warm-up on the opening day of the first Test.
Deonarine, 31, is also a capable right-arm off-spin bowler. He has so far played 18 Test matches. He has been in good form recently in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional League Four-day Tournament with scores of 139 and 110 not out.
Deonarine will depart the Caribbean as soon as his UK in-transit visa is processed.
