I still believe that Sammy was the best man to captain the WI

Until someon emerges from the sub 19 level. A captain does not have to be the best bowler or batsman of a team but one who possesses leadership skills, intelligence and the integrity to command the respect of the team. Another intangible may be physical size. So far I not een anyone with qualities I mentioned the surpass those of Sammy.

I believe insularity, chicanery and badmindness influenced the selectors to sack Sammy prematurely.

Ah sun mi see't. Who bex, fcuk yah.

Oh get over it!

There are other more important qualities than the intangibles that a good captain must have that Sammy doesn't posses. These would be tangibles! Batting and bowling not good enough for consistent selection at the Test level. End of Story.

You evidently want most people here to crucify you ; and it aint even Christmas yet . It is possible that you perhaps want to piss them off .

The first requisite for captain is to be a certainty for the team.

The second is captaincy skill and xperience.

Yes certainty to lead to the end of West Indies cricket I guess certainty is working now

Well said!

I think his good rep got tarnished somewhat with the Indian debacle. He needed to distinguish himself from the strikers. Convince them that the tour must go on regardless.

Sammy stock went way up as a T20 draw after WI let him go.

The man is counting his stars and money...leave him alone

djdrastic 2014-12-21 03:22:03

Yes I agree. West Indies desperately need a specialist number 8 batsman that can score upwards of 15 runs back in their side.

And who can forget the Supreme tactical nous he displayed when he intentionally injured his star batsman that just helped him save a test.

How that man lost his place in the test squad is beyond me.

Sammy should not have been part of the decision abandone the tour to Indian... Did not show leadership!
