he is not a cawmerian but obviously he was not bad. obviously he tried to put a positive spin on his elevation which obviously is a surprise to most fans given that he is not a regular member of the squad,

he obviously misuse or over use obviously so much that obviously i dont know what obviously means anymore.

nevertheless - good luck young man

They are going to destroy him with this appointment.

He has not cemented his place in the WI team in any format....how is he going to LEAD....a usually fragmented WI side?

Even Sammy was more qualified for the job.

Holder has potential with bat and ball, he is a better than average batsman. Being on the fringe may not have been his faults, but politics. We can only judge after we see how he handles it all.

tc1 2014-12-21 09:17:52

How many players in the WI have cemented their place in the team

A better question to ask is: How many of them are performing at the highest level? And I am not referring to one off performances. We need consistency lol lol

Obviously it's a Bajan thing to overuse the word obviously. Check the Kamar obviously Roach interview. Annoying much!

Jason Holder’s biggest test will come when he is constantly pitted against players of a higher standard than he is accustomed to in the regional tournaments.

How will he react when he goes for more than Six per over in his opening spell?

How will he react when he gets hit in the ribs from a Steyn or Johnson bouncer?

Education will hardly matter then.

A captain has to be made of sterner stuff.

I have seen many W.I. captains suffer mentally at the hands of superior teams. Kanhai in 1973 and Lloyd in 1975/76. But… those guys were talented cricketers with guts. So they were able to rebound, and continue to lead.

Does Holder satisfy this requirement? How could the selectors have noticed it so soon in the young man’s career?
Good luck Jason, your chances, like your supporting cast, are both on the slim side.

I like Jason Holder a lot. I think he is intelligent, has a sound cricketing brain, and wish him well.
All the same for his own future and that of WI cricket I wish that he could have been put on a programme to develop physically, gain some more pace, work with some of the fast bowling legends to raise his fast bowling IQ and develop some mental toughness.
A future captain? Probably, but not ready yet.

Holder

Its not like he hasn't got any pedigree.

The issue for him like everyone else is the supporting cast as you point out.

How about: to ' onest wid yuh

Well now they should include Holder in the 2nd Test, the team needs the extra bowler, too much work is being given to Benn.
