A
In reply to Larr Pullo
Shaq cause how could you not vote for him...
In reply to Larr Pullo
hater! you wont even give Bryant "Big Country" Reeves no shine?
Ok Kareem, Shaq and Wilt are the top 3 followed by Russ and Dream. If I have to choose one I'd go Kareem
In reply to Larr Pullo
Jabar!!!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
A-J
J. Russel.
In reply to Larr Pullo
WTF Patrick Ewing doing on that list? WTF I seein here
G - Shaq
1) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
2) Wilt Chamberlin
3) Bill Russell
4) Moses "fo-fo-fo" Malone
Bill Walton needs to be on that list
Certainly ahead of Ewing....WTF was that about??
I like Ewing myself, but he can't sniff a Top 5 spot by any measurement.
Kareem for me. Wilt #2.
I ain know who was the greatest, but Hakeem, Da Dream, was the best to watch.
What he did to Robinson and Shaq, i think it was 1994, was MAGIC!
Regards!
@RMc@
Kareem
In reply to SpudsMcKenzie
Yep...Hakeem was a Dream to watch.
In reply to SpudsMcKenzie
Well, technically, the MAGIC were crushed by Hakeem, but point taken.
I'll go out on a limb and say that, skill-wise, Olajawon was the best of all!!! No one even comes close!!
If NBA rings are the measure of greatness, then the likes of Walt, Jabbar and Shaq nip him.
On pure stats, Chamberlain leads the pack. I have never seen Walt play (unlike Spuds and Imusic) but from all accounts, he was not as athletic and skillful as Akeem. I may hold some bias for the Phi Slamma Jamma frat brother as I was fortunate to see him play in college and in the pros.
In reply to cricket_jumbie
Pure stats and other categories, Jabbar is king
TOP 10 GREATEST NBA CENTERS OF ALL TIME
In reply to Larr Pullo
U left Elvin Hayes off the list.
In reply to cricket_jumbie
That must have been during the time you took that sabbatical to Madras to trace back your roots.
Most i have not seen played, but just on athletic skills alone
Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson top the list
Patrick Ewing doesn't belong
In reply to imusic
Breds, when Kareem beats dis den yuh could tork
Seriously though, you are correct wrt Jabbar and the stats. However, one must consider how Walt dominated the centers he played against. Also, you cannot ignore the 100. No one has been able to achieve that since.
In reply to Larr Pullo
No Tim Duncan?
J
Moses Freight Train Malone was one of the best in his time.
Not a big man compared to other centers, but he kept coming at you.
In reply to DukeStreet
Played power forward most of his career, missing is Wes Unseld
To me the debate should 'center' around Russel, Wilt and Kareem.
In reply to cricket_jumbie
Hakeem was not than great in college, Sam Bowie, Ralph Sampson . By the way the Breast of the east destroy Hakeem in the finals of the NCAA
In reply to Darkness
Timmy plays mainly power forward. No wonder you got so excited over the Raptors after two games.
In reply to JohnDoe
I agreed with u,I would add Nate Thurmond . At 6-7 or 8 the baby bull destroy many guys -Wes Unseld
In reply to cricket_jumbie
If this is the case...Russell is de Greatest Ever! I will tek Russell because he was a winner!
In reply to Larr Pullo
B
In reply to JohnDoe
co-sign
In reply to JoeGrine
You remember that?
In reply to Larr Pullo
I did not see Wilt and Russell play
I have a bias for physical players, but I will give Kareem his dues base on numbers
My personal favorites would be Hakeem and Moses
In reply to black
LOL - Moses commanded and the Sixers delivered, well almost on the 4-4-4 promise. That particular 76ers team could stand pound for pound with any of the all-time great NBA Championship teams!
In reply to JoeGrine
Mo cheeks, Andrew toney, bobby Jones, Dr j and moses.
One of the great nba teams of alltime.
In reply to Commie
I hereby confer on you the handle "Genius"!!!!
In reply to Commie
Probably my favorite team of all time
In reply to Larr Pullo
Hassan Whiteside
In reply to JoeGrine
I hated them back then. Celtics fan.
Until of course the Bad Boys came to town.
Russell...
Reinvented the game...
1) Shot blocking to instill fear
2) Shot blocking to start fast breaks
3) Rebounding became an important statistic in his time
4) Rebounding to start fast breaks
5) Winner
Two NCAA Championships with the San Francisco Dons
One Olympic gold medal, 1956 Olympics
Eleven NBA Championships
In reply to JoeGrine
Remember this ?
Forgot Dawkins. Bad ass player.
In reply to Commie
Dawkins was not on the winning team, he was traded to make way for Moses. "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins was a baaaad man, just couldn't get pass Parrish and the Celtics.
In reply to black
That 76ers team and the winning Houston team with Hakeem "the Dream" and Clyde "the Glide" are my two favorite winning teams.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Wilt.
Bill Russell on being asked by a reporter on how he thought he would fare vs Kareem Abdul jabbar.
"Young man, you have the question backwards"
In reply to Trinidave
All bias aside its not even close. Wilt would crush todays centers even.
He is clearly the best and arguably the GOAT along with MJ.
In reply to imusic
didnt need the stats...Kareem Ab dul...
and the same way I dont need stats to tell me where Michael Jordan is on the list for point guards.
