Just a couple weeks before the start of the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, West Indies must be concerned about certain aspects of their batting and bowling which were exposed in the 4-1 loss to South Africa in the just concluded One-Day International series.

The consolation win by one wicket with nine balls to spare in the penultimate match at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth was a big relief for Jason Holder, the 23-year-old fast bowling all-rounder in his first series as captain. One only had to look at the expressions of the players after Andre Russell smashed the winning shot with his fifth six, along with five fours in a fine, unbeaten 64, to realise how much the victory meant to the team.

But let us be honest. The West Indies bowling got a battering for the most part and Scores of 439 for two off 50 overs in the second match at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg and 361 for five off 42 overs in the final match at SuperSport Park in Centurion are perfect examples of the ball-beating they suffered.

In other words, Gayle and Smith should be dropped if they don't produce in the World Cup?

Well, I think serious questions should be asked about the bowling coach, the WI team had 5 games to come up with a strategy to contain SA and they failed, what is the coach staff doing to justify their positions, or are the bowlers that bad.

Maybe Holder, possibly Taylor? Curtly can show them the dynamics BUT they have to put in the time and conduct the thinking on the day. Our bowlers have NOT been properly DEVELOPED by the WICB over the last many years, if they had been, then surely WI would have 4 KILLERS by now out of Cotterell, Johnson, Edwards, Gabriel, Peters, CHRIS JORDAN?????, Searles, Richards, and at least 10 more etc etc The raw talent and capability MUST be available in the WI. Are ALL of our fellas both weak and stupid??????????????????????????????????? DONT any of them want to make BIG $$$$$$$$ on the World stage?

Gents the WICB said they were planning for WC 2015, WHERE is the EVIDENCE NOW???????????

Here we go again. Another waste of time so called Sports Journalist with the same old crap. Blame the players. The players are held to one standard and the WICBandits etc are held to no standard. All the Sports Journalists in the West Indies should be locked up.

Batting is a JOKE when you have to "depend " on Samuels, Gayle, Ramdin as your most experienced "leaders"! PLEEEEEZ!

Gayle is a great swashbuckler when he decides to be and with Bravo/ Polly being dumped he is unlikely to take proceedings seriously unless at the time he considers he has something to prove in the WC.

Samuels has ALWAYS had a very poor ATTITUDE----an ARROGANT ASS-- who should not even be permitted to think he is in the class of AB DeV! If he does then PROVE IT in the next 8 weeks!!!

Ramdin batting at 5? Please tell me that this is a nightmare and he is going to be at 7!

WE NEED batsmen from 1-6, preferably batsmen that understand the 50 over game is completely different from T20! We NEED coaches managers et al others that appreciate this reality too!

What is the difference between Roach, who is our best quick...and the rest?

What about Merv Dillon, Mclean, King et Al, all who were given bowling camps, toured with Walsh and Ambrose and who had access to Malcolm Marshall as coach at the same time with the same feedback Ntini and Pollock had.

At what point do you look at the drive, desire and talent of the player themselves.

Roach, paired with Marshall as coach and rooming with Ambrose and Walsh would be even better than he is now.

The others? Very likely they stay the same.

...I would suggest he has the `spelling` right.

3 more Samuels in the batting order would help.

The WICB is made up of jokers.

The team went to SA without video analysis of any of the SA batsmen.

How can this be possible?

The West Indies "must" improve? Why? They haven't done it before, so why start now?

Samuels in term of TALENT BUT NOT with the same ATTITUDE!

I like Samuels in terms of his batsmanship when he is serious about actually batting. No doubt he is the best player of spin in this team. Will he decide to be determined to focus??????

I have been stating that the So called Sports Journalists in the Region have aided & abetted those in the governance of Cricket in the Region for many years .

They , Individually & Collectively have had
for years now , a Symbiotic relationship
with Our Rogue Cricket Board ; that is known throughout the Cricket World as the
Worst International Cricket Board ; as the
WICB .

In the Movies James Bond 007 , has a license to Kill . In Cricket , the WICB has been granted a License to indulge in Bad
Governance ; Poor Business Acumen ; Arrogance ; Incompetence ; Ineptness ; &
Crass Stupidity . by the International Cricket Cabal ; aka the ICC .

The ICC , apparently does not give a Damn about the once rich History of West Indies
Cricket , as long as they are making money , they are happy .

I really don't believe that Sir Frank Worrell would be proud of the way Cricket in the Region has been governed , the Standard in the Region & the absence of
Testicular Fortitude by those in the Region who claim to be Sports Journalists , but in
actuality are Shills for the WICB ; they
view their only role is to be very critical
of the Players .

Those in the WICB are only concerned with
being in power & maintaining their power .
Every now & then , they commission
" Reports " , and then deep six them . This
buttresses my point that the people in the
WICB are very happy with the Current Structure of Cricket in the Region .

To host the 2007 World Cup , they begged the Regional Governments to Build ; Refurbish ; & spruce up Stadia in the Region . The Regional Governments did
what was asked of them .

In this very Forum I stated , that the Regional Governments should have demanded
that in exchange for doing what was requested of them by the WICB , they need
to have a legally binding document from the
WICB stating that it would undergo structural changes . Unfortunately , the
Regional Governments did nothing .

I cite the above , because recently the
the Regional Governments asked the WICB
TO IMPLEMENT THE PATTERSON REPORT . THE

WICB REFUSED TO DO THAT ; IT THEN

COMMISSIONED THE WILKIN REPORT WHICH IT

ALSO SWIFTLY REJECTED .


I don't recall any of the Faux Sports Journalists in the Region saying anything about this , that did not come as a surprise to me because it reinforces my
point that there is a Symbiotic Relationship between the WICB & those in
the Region who say that they are Sports Journalists .

I am hoping the the Apologists for the
Worst International Cricket Board in the World , aka the WICB , would show up here to defend the indefensible .

Unfortunately , they have , it seems all scurried away . They don't have
the testicular fortitude to speak up
for their Masters .
