A teacher of mine once explained accuracy in setting budgets...he used the analogy of a vagina...if it's too tight it leads to frustration, if it's too loose it leads to complacency. ..needless to say I scored a "hay" on that course...
Perhaps you can take a leaf out of that book to explain the concept to the habitual perpetrators. .

I taught remedial English and English as a foreign language for 17 years. For the record one student earned a two at CXC and everyone else earned a one.
Lose and loose really annoy me.
In reply to Cheeks
Agreed - on both counts.
What about 'would of' as in "I would of known it is lose and not loose"
And I see Canadian students using this a lot
In reply to Narper
It is would have but they write the way they speak - 'real lose' ahem loose.

UNJUSTLY? For urging others to physically CONFRONT another MB member with whom he had a one-sided disagreement?
It just so happened that his 'victim' this time had the power to ban his stupid arse from the MB. If others had similar powers he would not last a minute here.
His so called 'grammatical policing' was just a nuisance and excuse to bully and impose his ways on others.
