I would not call him ill-tempered. He is probably passionate and excited and gets over excited some times, Everyone cannot be a Dhoni or Tendulkar. Especially if you know how the Indian media harasses these guys.
He surely is not a saint, But he may just be on the edge and this guy rubbed him then..

His excuse was mistaken uidentity. Like, he was after some other journalist, and this guy got stuck in the middle
