Don't worry about that Emir Taliban, you keep eating your pork.
Reason they cannot produce fast bowlers
In reply to Runs
Pork is the reason Pakistan produce fast bowlers?
In reply to gvenkat
hope yuh not joining the cowbawling fundamentalist's bandwagon
In reply to ponderiver
Interesting how you refer to them as cowbawling. Do you refer to those that ban pork in about 20 countries as pork-bawling? The "cowbawlers" have been tolerant of the porkbawlers for the most part.
In reply to maidavale
for the record I am not fond of pork
here is some more irony for you.... the most popular game in India is cricket, it requires the use of a cricket ball, made from the skin of dead cows....... no prizes for guessing what TenD loved doing best
In reply to ponderiver
He loved herding cows with his stick...like his God Krishna

That's a cheap low blow and totally uncalled for- very "un-islamic" You should apologize.

One can understand why some Hindus are tempted by the banning of beef as the cow play a central role in Hinduism, so we must try understand others before criticizing them. Now, it doesn't mean the actual ban is a good idea.
People in India who eat beef- (Muslims, Siks, some Hindus, some Jains and others) do so mainly with the meat from the water buffalo or bison, not the cow, so I feel there is room for compromise.
I once was dispatched form NA to India to mediate a solution in a UP village regarding beef and I got the villagers to agree that those who wish to eat beef should be free to do so, and I got the opposite side to agree that beef meat should only be harvesteed from the bison.

I fully understand your sentiments and must commend you on the role you played in conflict resolution in UP
Of concern however is the rise in Hindu fundamentalism .
Fuelled by the PM and head of the leading BJP, is it a counter to the rise of Islam , Chinese hegemony or is it an example of the former British colony's desire to redefine itself away from the British raj and promote Nationalism
Especially at a time when India is poised to be a world leader, an economic powerhouse and is the oldest democracy in the world.
In reply to ponderiver
Many of us share that concern, including tens of millions of Hindus in India. India has always outlast her enemies from both within and outside and she has survived, so I am cautiously optimistic this threat will fizzle away.
I feel the VSP and the radical arm of the BJP will become less a player as Narendra becomes more a statesman.
Fundamentalist Hindus, like other religious fundamentalists, need a hearing and sympathy. For example, India was raped many times over by all the super powers and her wealth plundered and Hinduism was maligned and marginalized in her own land. The BJP radicals are just reacting to these historic injustice.
One must be very careful not to paint Hinduism with a broad brush- the radical arm of the BJP and VHP does not represent Hinduism, which arguably, historically speaking, is the most tolerant religion. People from all faiths from the ancient world found sanctuary from religious persecution in Hindu India over the centuries.
