The stone the WICB refused...

...and the jamaiscums here like to call him uglyman as if junior bennet is a cheese.

Ottis Gibson becomes England bowling coach

Congrats coach Gibson. You just can't keep a good man down.

Based upon the post-Gibson results, especially the marked improvement in our bowlers, I would say that the WICB made a good decision in refusing the Gibson stone, don't you? smile

By the way, all that money the WICB used to buy out Gibson's contract could have been used to help fund the PCL cool

Marked improvement?...indeed, indeed.

I concur and especially in light of this post in reference to coach Gibson's premature departure:

During the Gibson tenure how many times did WI bowlers give away 400 runs in ODI?

It would be helpful for a camparison

Didn't know Wally was a hater tuh. He must love the recent results.

If Ottis Gibson was WI coach, Bravo and Pollard would have played in the World Cup. Either that or Gibson would have quit again. And the irony of it all is that Bravo (the B-game Bravo) heralded Gibson's departure.

Walco 2015-03-26 09:46:54

In reply to WI_cricfan

I think you already know the answer to that question smile I don't recall any 400 scores under Gibson's tenure, but you would have to double check that one.

BTW, Wally is still dancing...delighted at our number 1 status in all formats of the game and our recent excellent performances.

While the bowling was terrible and the worse in the World Cup, the fielding restrictions and the Dave Cameron selected team did play a part.

Seriously though, there is this popular misconception that Gibson was fired. Gibson obviously wants people to believe this for some reason. Gibson engineered his exit as WI coach. My guess is that he and Tricky Dick Pybus did not see eye-to-eye and Gibson decided to exit stage left after the WICB sided with the tricky one.

How many times did WI play South Africa during that time – I think that should be part of the equation since I believe SA is the only team that scored 400 + ODI runs against WI

So I take it you are expecting England to be soundly defeated by us in the upcoming series here in the West Indies. After all, there's not enough room for two teams to be scraping the bottom of the same barrel. WI scraping somewhere above the bottom smile

You are indeed correct the SA is the only team that scored 400+ against us. So in order to include more teams and allow for a better comparison, the number should be lowered to teams that have scored 392+ against us with Gibson as coach and post-Gibson. Happy now?? smile smile

Don't hedge man. Mek di call big and bold nuh. Even if yuh seh we would beat dem if Gayle wuz playing I could tek dat smile

BTW, as I recall, it was England's batting that lost the Wisden, not their bowling. I remember great spell of bowling by Tayrol and a 9-wicket match haul by Benn.

shock shock Okay Mr. 333, the next thing you'll tell me is that rain did not save us from a loss in the Antigua test. In fact, rain was more responsible for us regaining the Wisden than DP smile
