HEADLINE: No Smiles This Time Around

After many years of basking in brilliant sunshine, years in which Jamaica preened themselves in winning title after title under captain Tamar Lambert and on the back of Nikita Miller's bowling, Jamaica's cricket took a beating this time around.

At the end of a nice, long season, and after a promising start, Jamaica finished, not so much out of the running, but almost unrecognisable.

Playing 10 matches, Jamaica won three of the first four, lost five consecutively, drew two, including the last one, and finished in fourth position with 75 points, 73 behind winners Guyana Jaguars.

Finishing fourth out of six teams is not all that bad; after all, it had to rain sometime.

What was disappointing about Jamaica's performance is that it was, more or less, expected.

Lambert's 12 pack to de worl'!!!

Anyway, i'm thinking that Jamacia needs Dave Cameron to focus on Jamaica cricket to bring it back to the pinnacle.

I'm serious.

Its like an end of an era pic.

I'm not talking about Lambert himself.

Guffaw.

It will be interesting to see how the tide changes regionally.

Whilst it will be great to have a strong JA cricket, it isn't all that necessary for a strong WI.

We have to look beyond traditional appeal.

Jamaica may need to draft some peeps from elsewhere.

And you could be a big contributor in bringing your thinking to reality. All you have to do is pick and support better candidates than the last two in opposing Cameron for the WICB Presidency.

As unworthy as he is of the post, you should have an easy task.

That article is pure HOGWASH.
He points out all the ills of Jamaican cricket and notes that they finished with slightly more than half the points Guyana had.He also points out the number of players that the two sides used presumably to show just how superior the Guyanese are.
Does he have any clue as to what is going on in Guyana cricket. He mentions the crisis that Jamaican clubs are in,yet the crisis that Guyanese clubs are in is probably worse that their Jamaican counterparts.
Just the other day some former Under 19 players from the late 1960's were engaging in an email discussion and the guys were talking about Fredericks playing for DCC in local Case Cup competition and how after play the conversations they had with him and how much they learned about the game. These days once a guy makes the WI team he never ever plays any local club cricket, because he is playing in some lowly League in England or even Europe for 10 times as much money as he would make holding down a job in the caribbean and playing local club cricket.
The problems facing Jamaican cricket are not unique to Jamaica and can not be used as an excuse for their performance.
