I questioned your appointment of young Holder as ODI captain, but now I take my hat off to you and your greater cricketing expertise and experience in recognizing talent and, in Holder, something more special than I failed to grasp at the time.
Although the World Cup might have been one step too big in so short a space of time in his career, I did see glimpses of this budding talent and, in this, his first Test match century, he confirmed the promise and potential you saw in him.
In Holder, West Indies might have finally found a genuine allrounder; one we have been looking for in such a long time.
Congrats to Jason Holder and a fine "win" by the West Indies. To get this draw was as good as a win.

My apologies to Clive Lloyd
In reply to ProWI
I will pass on your sentiments!!!!!!LOL
In reply to ProWI
I wish many here would have the grace and courtesy to join you in offering up apologies to Lloyd. At the end of the day, the Bravos, Pollards et al have done NOTHING for WI cricket. Lloyd has, and we should NEVER forget it.

Seen an IPL thread survive here lately ?

Your posts are always hilarious.
Even if Holder had batted us to victory today, that still doesn't mean that the decision to throw him to the wolves by appointing him captain of a turbulent team just before the cauldron of the world cup was a correct one.
As much as we are celebrating him now, let's not forget that he was lost at times during the world cup. Remember all those robotic bowling changes without appreciation of the situation.
Let the young man develop without the burden of the poisoned chalice of captaincy.

Steel does have to go through fire!! But y'all don't understand that.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Is not enough fire for him to try and keep his place as a bowler in a team that usually concedes 400 and 500 totals to every other test team?
Or to have to try and bat them out of trouble after idiots like Samuels and Devon get out as if they batting in the IPL?
In reply to Larr Pullo
Just like the 5-1 hammering in Australia in '75-76 was the making of the WI team.
In reply to ProWIIn trading de crowd is usually wrong. Don't be too hard on urself

Hahahaha.
Thanks my messenger.
I want him to use his height more effectively, especially at the point of delivery. He should watch some Joel Garner tapes.
I hope Ambrose works hard with him. He can become the real deal: a strike instead of a stock bowler and a very good lower order batsman.

visionary mate
In reply to Larr Pullo
Because he sacrificed the ODI team for the Test team, and because the WI did so great in the World Cup. Sorry Clive you were right.

Don't be an ass. Every one know of Jason's ability and it has never been in doubt. Lloyd has absolutely nothing to do with Jason's talent, in fact he can destroy Jason by pushing him to the ODI captaincy- he is obviously not ready for the captaincy challenge.
In reply to Emir
How so? Didn't he give him the push when he realised that he has more upside than Pollard and Bravo...?
In reply to Kay
Push him into captaincy is not going to help his career, it will slow him down- he made this century while playing under a different captain.
Lloyd had nothing to do with his upbringing and coaching.
Look...all kinnah folks here whose only involvement in cricket is running dem mout on cc.com like to talk rubbish.
Lloyd may have his issues...but he has real life experience building a world class unit...and most of all, as I think Larr says, he has forgotten more cricket than most here will ever know.
He will not get everything right, BUT I trust his judgment more than the loudmouth folks here who seem to be more interested in cricketers' and coaches' looks and.. short term financial gain of a very select few cricketers, than long term, strategic Windies cricket development.

I hear you loud and clear. Jack Sprat could eat no lean NOC's.
Commie taught him a lesson or two yesterday.
This is how he contributes to West Indies cricket:

...Right now I have waning interest in West Indies cricket anyway. Most times when Marlon Samuels get out I go back to bed...
He spots as well, one uglyman coach from a crowd of five million people.

Amen brother!

I want you to thought about this a bit.

What does making Holder Captain of the ODI team have to do with a century to save a match.
I'll tell you very little.
Some ah unnu bad confused.
I know my sentiments are unpopular right now....but I'll simply book mark your comments.
Very good innings, one of the best test fightback in recent times.
How does that wipe off some poor captaincy choices in the ODI WC.
Oh frick...we are west indians...for us it does.
Lloyd may prove to be right and Jason is certainly a bright spot.
But our cricket is constantly turning corners.
Sammy's 7fer in England was the same kinda Euphoria and justification for Hunt and Co.
What happened after?
One test does no a successful campaign make.
Let's enjoy and support WI cricket and stop all the premature ejaculations.
A guess at unnu ages that's hard to do....
I thought Ramdin was captain?

As of today...I will refer that character as Pretty Boy Jockie. PBJ if you will.

You should learn to have more respect for Clive in the future.

I should come back more often and review my posts. Thanks Ewart. I'll make the correction.
