Why this should be Shiv's Last Series...........

Hendra 2015-04-18 00:37:29

In both innings,Shiv was our Slowest batsman. Yet he is the eldest and most experienced among the lot and this has been the pattern for a while.

Yes he has served WI cricket very well but with his increasing age and declining form and the fact that we now have some batsmen who are threatening to burst through the door, is it good for WI cricket that we persist with him beyond this current series? I say no, .....it's now time to give him a nudge and have him retire honourably after the Barbados Test!!

In the past Shiv would have been the ideal batsman to save this Test for us but not even that he can now do. It was a joy watching 23 yr old Holder bat
but with Shiv it's oh so tortuous. Further with Craig B in the team...and believe it or not, he bats faster than Shiv, we really can't afford two Shivs in the same team.

What does that mean? Explain

So we would have won if he batted faster?

How many times that slow batting saved us from embarrassment?

You know you behave just like an opposition party - you have to oppose

Of course Shiv has saved us many times but we cannot continue with him indefinitely with his declining performance and the fact that there are now younger players breathing down his neck. You need to look at my post in context.

Bro I bin saying this fe the last 2 years Shiv ain't no help to the team. Him focus just pon records. thank u Shiv time to move on.

Dan_De_Lyan 2015-04-18 16:38:22

Shiv can continue for the next 10 years....all he would have to make is 1 century and 5 50s .....de.shmit did that..

If you want the West Indies to be competitive now Shiv does that for us.
If you want to lose now to build for the future then bring in a youngster.

But then don't complain when the batting crumbles. Whenever it does you hear cries for Shiv.

Remember, we drew that match off of a 100 by a guy picked as a bowler.

These fellas don't understand the concept of transition (don't think the wicb either). Shiv is needed for at least another year to provide that experience in the middle. Without shiv, Samuels becomes our most experienced batsman. Now that's frightening

A set of ungrateful bastards on this board.

Yuh complain bout slowness....in test cricket...alyuh memory short eh...alyuh done forget RSA already...alyuh done forget 3 and 4 day test matches...didn't Shiv and Blackwood save we skunt in first innings of this test....alyuh underestimate the presence of Shiv and his contribution to Blackwood's eventual ton

In the past Shiv would have been the ideal batsman to save this Test for us but not even that he can now do.

Shiv....the machine....must always average 60 + to justify his place in the team...right?

Yess...ungrateful bastards...alyuh shoot the ole horse when he still running....alyuh can't wait till he STOP

Jus because alyuh THINK alyuh have some young stallion to replace him

Of course this could be his last series...he is at cricket retirement age...but why look for performance excuse...he is not doing worse than his younger counterparts

In the match...runs by players batting higher

Smith 76

Braffit 44

Bravo 42

Samuels 56

Shuv 59

You and a few others simply hate Shiv, don't you?

Shiv remains in the team for one reason only. WI cannot find a suitable replacement for him, despite all his shortcomings - being slow, selfish, etc.

Shiv's age works more against him with each match he plays, but he is still the most valuable batsman in the team in the present circumstances.

Hating Shiv is symptomatic of the state of WI cricket affairs in general - backwardness.

bro u miss de boat. Shiv can mek a ton or double it doant matter. The more him bat the more him dig a hole for de team cause him mek no effort fe up the tempo or dictate. Nuff man get out cause Shiv cause pressure fe pile up and the opposition get pon top and men got fe attack to break the shackles. Shiv doant care bowt attack him haff one intention not out.
A so me see it .

don't you think that Shiv was one of the reasons WI did not lose the test?

Look at the partnership in the first innings and come again..

They are four youngsters with test centuries, two of them with doubles.
If I were Simmons, I would let Shiv know, Australia will be his last International series.

That was sarcasm to the ungratefullness of this board towards a true servant of WI cricket.

Thought process not required if unconscious minds at play here
