HEADLINE: Bravo not returning to Tests

CaribbeanCricket.com 2015-06-30 06:29:30

All rounder Dwayne Bravo is not returning to the Test fold, at least not in short term, as talks with current coach Phil Simmons broke down. Simmons met with Bravo, Sunil Narine and Keiron Pollard recently and Bravo revealed that he would not be making himself available to return to “whites.” According to Bravo: “I met with coach Simmons and at the moment I am not prepared to come back to Test cricket. The conditions are not right for a return because it is even more unfair to us than before.

Right now we are hearing that the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) signed a new deal with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) but we as players have no knowledge as to what is the deal.

I guess Wavell still up to his old tricks...

It is puzzling how Wavell operates, how could he sign an agreement with the Board without consulting the senior players? Who is he representing?

Move pass this Fuzzy...was the new agreement discussed with the senior players or their reps. This is of fundamental importance?

The WICB should clear the air on this important matter.

BTW, had it been H&H that had gone the way of reducing senior players take home pay and being held responsible for the Indian tour fiasco they would have been lynched and buried here.

Facking insular hypocrites.

You guys are correct, I read West Indian papers online and at leaast 50% of all articles contain erroneous use of the language and you cry wonder if an editor looks at it or of it is only in the online versions and not print version?

Only in WI and those outside the big 3. Hence the big three will always rule. Matches between OZ and England , Ashes, will always be top draw. India vs England,vs OZ will always be top draws win or lose. Not so the rest in Test cricket specially fickle WI fans who are now becoming more and more fairweather

How can a player even contemplate returning to test cricket , if that player does not even play first class cricket?
Has the criteria for selection to test cricket changed? Is it that you no longer need to perform well in first class cricket to gain selection on the test team? Might as well scrap the PCL then, and let Simmo just meet with players and talk.

Bravo still is one of the better allrounders we have. Focus should be on why Wavell and Cameron signed a deal that the players are not aware of? What is the cut that the players are being forced to take? How is Wavell allowed to be WIPA president & Jamaica Selector?

But all these are tough things to change... It is easy to mock on players.

I thought he was representing all the players in the West Indies except Marlon Samuels.

Then again, didn't the senior players say he no longer represent them?

Bravo still playing politics. Afterall, the leadership hasn't changed yet and that was his intention all along.

When a Prime Minister makes a decision, signs a deal, does he or she consult with the people first?

Kay 2015-06-30 14:58:59

Isn't Wavell the president of WIPA? What is his leverage as president if he has to contact 300 players and get a 'yes' or a 'no' from each one of them and then act if the 'yeses' outweigh the 'nos' each time a decision has to be made?

rumhead24 2015-06-30 15:33:15

I think bravo dont have the love for west indies anymore I could hear him say money talks

POINT 2015-06-30 16:45:24

I hope that Bravo & Co have one Entity representing them , rather than dilute their Clout , by each of them , having their own Representation .

If they can have that Entity , encompass Lawyers whose speciality is Contracts ; &
Accountants , they would hopefully get good advice .

Pacy 2015-07-01 00:00:37

In reply to Kay

Wavell can bring in plans for whole of 300 Players but he has to inform the International players about the plan. It is they who are bringing in the money.

There is a reason why certain players are sidelined

With Bachelor, Keeping up with the Ks, and all the countless other reality shows the things people watch on TV are all highly questionable.

Sign of the times.

Why do they keep begging this minimal-talent, bird-brained guy to come back? Haven't they gotten enough of his stupidity that is costing them dearly? The WICB must be made up of masochists.

pufftrini 2015-07-02 13:03:04

West Indies cricket is on life support. The Board somehow manages to get an arse licker like Hinds to negotiate on behalf of the players. When the senior players protest, all the uncle toms on this forum up in arms. Bravo and co were right to protest that devil deal made behind the players back. That some of you here would actually support the WICB in this issue speaks volumes.
