Just follow Woj....thats all.
In reply to Commie
Spurs will land LMA. That's a dream team right there.
_r
In reply to Admin
Depends on whether they can update their bench.
In reply to Commie
Spurs are wizard magicians. They probably have some court-ready bench players stashed in some weird eastern european country.
_r
DeMarre Carroll agrees to deal with Toronto Raptors. Smart pickup.
_ryan
In reply to Admin
Fuckers just traded Splitter to the Hawks to free up the space.
Parker
Green
Kawhi
LMA
Duncan
Damn.
In reply to Admin
not max. 5 yrs 90. leaves some money on the table. lets see what happens with Wade
Seems like a bit too much money spent on Green. Spurs may have to send away Diaw and Mills?
I'm just surprised Luke Ridnour hasn't been traded again already
In reply to Commie
Duncan staying with Spurs I assume?
WOnder what Knicks doing?
In reply to Tryangle
Nah...Duncan taking a lower deal to being in LMA.
Spurs seems like the kind of org that will do wink wink deals that NOONE will expose.
Jeez the Raps. 15m a year for Caroll ?
In reply to Commie
Yep, wing players who can shoot 3's and defend are getting paid. Last year Parsons & Hayward both got $15M a year.
Wonder what that means for JR Smith and Shumpert?
In reply to Commie
A lot of cheap real estate in that part of Texas?
Kevin Love returns to Cleveland (max).
_r
In reply to Admin
that is a surprise...max????
Guess they are not getting Wade
In reply to Admin
What about Bron?
Tristian Thompson also gets $80M.
Cavs gonna be paying over $52M next year to Love, Thompson, Mozgov & Varejao. The total cap is $69M.
Worse yet, only 1 of those 4 is likely to be on the court at a time if they face the Warriors or any other team playing small ball in the playoffs next year.
Trader Danny has struck!!! Stop the presses.
Celtics steal Amir Johnson away from the Raps. 2 yrs/$24M.
_ryan
Chicago keeps Jimmy Butler with max (5yr/$95 million).
Unbelievable money sharing!!! Imagine Millsap about to get max money. WTF is going on. Then these same dumb owners will cry about salaries and pull another lockout.
_ryan
Tyson Chandler to Phoenix Suns. 4 yrs/$50million.
Money sharing like gold rush times!!
_ryan
Brandon Knight back to the Suns -- five-years, $70 million. Dammmmnnn..
_ryan
Brooklyn Nets sharing money:
Brook Lopez - three-year, $60 million maximum contract
Thaddeus Young - four-year, $50 million.
Thaddeus Young gets $50 million!?!?!?!?! This is complete lunacy!
_ryan
Melo's contract starting to look like pocket change.

Keeps us with our cap intact and is sensible.
Keep on loading up Danny.
In reply to Commie
Do the Celtics attract talent?
Does Kevin Durant visit the Celts?
In reply to Commie
I'm not a fan of Amir Johnson. He's the oldest 28yr old I've ever seen. However that's a decent pickup with all the madness happening today.
_r
In reply to Admin
He and Jerebko are both non guaranteed second years.
Cheapo Danny up to his usual. Makes them ideal to be packaged in trades because whoever he trades them to can cut them and get the cap space.
In reply to Commie
First time on free agent day I'm happy to see the Knicks quiet. Market is bananas.
_r
Wait Danny gave Amir 24 Mil?? Did he check those ankles first? I mean dont get me wrong I love Amir and am sad to see him go but I hope Boston isnt planning to play him more than 20 minutes a game
Ok this market is madness. Tristan just got 80 Mil. really??? Chandler got 60 Mil from the Suns. Isnt Chandler almost 34?
Raptors pissed me off. $15Mil for Carroll but you're secretly vex that Derozen will ask for max next year.
In reply to defeyeant
Check again. guaranteed one year.
Trade asset.
Khris Middleton -- 5 yrs/$70 million. Am I hallucinating???
_ryan
In reply to Admin
The thing is the cap is going to move so these will seem like semi decent. The problem is like they found out their credit card limit went up and they spending more...to cap it.
In reply to Commie
Link? I don't see that anywhere. Amir would be foolish to take that in this exploding market.
_r
WOnder what LMA and Jordan gonna get
If Aldridge doesnt choose the Spurs, then they just gave away Splitter for nothing. Theyll need another center or power forward to help out Timmy.
In reply to Commie
Man that is a sweet deal.Owners better not cry poverty at the next CBA when they are spending like drunken sailors.
cha even Shumper get 10 mil a year. Cleveland spending like crazy!! $230 mil on Love, Tristan and Shumpert.
In reply to defeyeant
And they still have to sign Bron and replace JR.
In reply to Disciple
That is a seriously flawed roster. Paying Thompson and Love all that money when they play the same position. That Wiggins trade has really messed with their balance.Love your point regarding how they are going to match up with a team that goes small.
Paul Pierce to Clippers. $10m for three years.
In reply to Admin
Looks like he may finish up with Doc
Warriors keep Draimond Green - 5 yrs 85M. Jesus.
In reply to Admin
Draymond is worth it.
Scary to think what Curry will get - 5 years $150M, $200M...
In reply to Admin
Affalo for 8 mil a year is a great pickup. most level headed thing any GM has done so far
In reply to defeyeant
Love that deal for the Knicks. 2 yrs, $16m w player option in second year.
Boston re-signs Jae Crowder -- 5yrs, $35M. Our notion of a $7M/year player has evaporated.
_r
Omer Asik back to Pelicans: 5yrs, $60 million.
_r
In reply to Admin
I'm waiting for Biyombo to get overpaid (most likely by the Raptors)
In reply to defeyeant
Lou Williams is the one for me.
_r
Paul Pierce to the Clippers. Sorry to see him go but I think our young pups at the Wizards benefitted tremendously from his year with them. Otto Porter was fantastic in the playoffs.
On day one of free agency: 1 BILLION DOLLARS spent on 18 deals with Bron, Gasol, LaMarcus, DeAndre still to come.

In reply to Admin
what is Hinkie really doing in Philli? he traded picks for more big men???
Everybody gine small Phili going big. Like I wasnt too far off in joking the man looking to start 5 centers lol
In reply to defeyeant
Sac needed cap space. Philly will dump those guys plus they got more picks.
Philly isnt the issue here, Sacramento are. Whilst they have put together a good roster any bump in the road and the whole thing will fall apart.
In reply to Commie
Sacramento passed on these players -- Vonleh, Peyton, Lavine, McDermott - to draft Stauskas. I remember watching a documentary with ownership and management being so high on Stauskas that they refused to do anything but draft him at #8.
A year later, he is dumped in a salary move.
That franchise is a sadness. Almost as bad as my Knickerbockers.
_ryan
In reply to Admin
Stauskas was also an interesting pick from the perspective that they had just picked up Mclemore the draft before as well
In reply to defeyeant
In hindsight, this is hilarious:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEN6ad_Aw-M
Greg Monroe to Milwaukee Bucks (max deal). This means the Knicks didn't offer the max, which makes me happy. I'm happy missing the playoffs again and throwing around insane/crazy money in 2017.
Unless, Aldridge
I predict the Knicks overpay Robin Lopez sometime later today. Once it's a two-year deal, I'll be fine with it.
_ryan
In reply to Admin
Am all for the long process of rebuilding. However,Toronto owns our first found pick in next year's draft. The only way for us to improve is via free agency.
In reply to Admin
Monroe...max
Jeez
In reply to Commie
as you said man, no owner can complain about money when the new contract comes up cause they making it rain this year
In reply to NYCGURU
2017 free agent class is where it's at. 2016 is all about Durant going to Washington.
2017 will be the monster year. That's where Boston, Philly and everyone lining up to have all the cap space.
_r
In reply to defeyeant
That new cap...
I also think they are doing that to handcuff the players in a way...but hey, billionaires vs millionaires.
In reply to defeyeant
If you think it's raining millions now, wait until 2017 when the cap goes boom (projected to be $108MM). Look at all the UFAs on that list. Maaaan....

Absolutely funny shit.Guess Nick no longer rocks. The Kings appear to be just as disfunctional as my Knicks.LoL
In reply to defeyeant
Durant better get alpha friends like Lebron did else he wont win a thing.
In reply to Commie
Durant's window closing fast, fast. He better hurry and get to John Wall and bring Blake with him (2017).
_r
In reply to Commie
Will be interesting to see how Durant rebounds from this lost season actually. And how he and Westbook interact cause Westbrook looks like the alpha now
In reply to Admin
thats why he's going to sign with the Raptors next year !!!
Ok sorry I couldnt even say that with a straight face
In reply to defeyeant
To be completely honest, I won't try to build a team around Durant now. Don't trust those foot injuries, reminds me of Grant Hill.
_r
Monta Ellis signs with Indiana Pacers -- four-years, $44 million.
_ryan
In reply to Admin
Yeah, I kinda cool on Durant too.
I'm amazed at how far Rajon Rondo's stock has fallen. That guy was a premier PG a year ago.
_ryan
In reply to Admin
hapens when you cant be an asset to a playoff team and get benched and then ultimately let go
who knows though, he might rebuild his career in Sacramento
In reply to defeyeant
Durant is not an alpha and thats cool if you hook him up with someone like Carmelo for example (for real).
Westbrooks window is also narrow because he plays with such a runaway physicality that when that is gone, and he already had a knee prob, well...there isnt much else to Westbrook imo.
I would like my Celts to trade for Melo. He is at exactly the point where Paul Pierce was before he hooked up with KG and Ray. Get him, snaffle Noel, and make overtures for Durant during Free agency.
In reply to Commie
I want to see how Durant rebounds from last season before I give a verdict on him. I think he will come back strong if he's physically able.
In reply to Commie
What you offering for Melo?
In reply to Admin
Our own pick next year and one of the Brooklyn picks, Sullinger, Bradley, and Zeller
In reply to Admin
LMA cancelled his meeting with the Knicks..has a meeting scheduled with Pat Riley. NOt sure what the deal is there. They would have to trade Bosh
Heat offering LMA the chance to be an unpaid intern??
In reply to rudebway
The Knicks were never getting Aldridge. I don't know why they were wasting time with meetings. Just overpay Robin Lopez (but not more than 2yrs/team option for a third) and move the hell on.
_ryan
DWade stays in Miami. 1yr, $20 mil. Smart for Miami, risky for Wade if his body continues to fall apart.
I expect that Aldridge will choose between Miami in the East and SA in the West. Even with a 2nd meeting with Lakers taking place as we speak. Meeting with Pat Riley afterwards will mean the decision should be made within the next 24 hours. With Aldridge off the board that will mean Jordan and Lee market value will go up as both Knicks, Lakers and Dallas will have money in hand and will not want to be left empty handed.
phew! Dallas just saved the Raptors from themselves by signing Wes Matthews
Question, why are the Blazers pretty much out of things? They resigned Lilliard, yet it seems they're resigned to starting from scratch.
In reply to Tryangle
Seems like Blazers realized that 60% of their starting 5; Matthews, Aldridge & Lopez would likely be leaving. They made the call to trade Batum; who was garbage last season anyway; and supposedly have backup plans to rebuild if Aldridge really does leave.
Wouldn't it be fun tho if Aldridge returns to Portland, giving a giant F U to conference rivals SA and PHX, who traded away quality players to make room for him?
In reply to Disciple
Going back to Portland will not makes any sense if a ring is his ultimate goal. Can't win with just him and Lillard. New York has to fire Phil before they become the Sacramento of the East. Lopez @ 12 per and Affalo are not the names expected by Dolan and crew when Phil was brought in.With Matthews heading to Dallas, Sacramento has now lost both Ellis and Matthews, who they wanted to play with Rondo( who they meet with today) too team up with Gay and Cousins. Anyone thinks maybe Karl already wants out as much as they want him gone.
In reply to defeyeant
Achilles injuries are the devil. Players rarely recover fully from that (in basketball). Wes Matthews getting max money coming off achilles surgery is the definition of lunacy.
_ryan
Dodged that bullet. Masai's just doofus enough to have gone after Matthews HARD
In reply to triniposse
Just a quick question.Did you expect Phil to come in and wave a magic and somehow fix a frachise that has been poorly managed for decades?
In reply to triniposse
Not sure about the 12 to lopez but the 8 to Affalo is a great contract
Look one time all men like Knicks and lakers had to do was show up and free agents was swooning but especially with the Knicks years of mismanagement has led to a situation where you guys going to have to do some convincing to get just the middle of the road guys and rebuild your rep before the big names want to come back there
In reply to defeyeant
#WeThe North I will be playing for Toronto Raptors next year!!!! I'm Blessed for this Opportunity! https://instagram.com/p/4mXm3qmVAZ/
What you think of Carroll's reaction to being traded? Seems like WeTheNorth movement has some visibility and positivity in the States
In reply to imusic
Dont want to give Masai all the credit but seems like the perception of the team around the league has changed nuff in the last two years.
I mean two years ago you dun know Aldridge wasnt going to be talking to no Raptors team. And ya see Wright's reaction when he get drafted? The man was downright ecstatic! Contrast that to a few years back when Ed Davis got drafted. Yep WetheNorth and stuff like seeing how hardcore the Raptors fans are , braving he cold to pack maple leaf square during playoffs etc seem to be working to our benefit.
They did say they wanted to change the team culture well maybe they have
In reply to defeyeant
ENT!!
Ah mean...there was never a real chance that he would sign....but the fact that he actually took the time to come to TO and talk to them is very positive.
I still remember Steve Francis' reaction on being selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies. Talk bout SOUR! Man refuse to come yes
Now the Raps and Grizzlies (at the time) were 2 different teams. But the Grizz made a real mess of their picks except for Sharif Abdur Rahim (big balla dat)....even more so than the Raps did of theirs.
4 years, 54 mil for Robin Lopez...
what's the word on JaVale McGee?
In reply to imusic
That was on NBA tv the other day and I was showing my son how terrible the behavior was. It was as if the man did ketch a jail sentence. an his granny there trying to be nice in the interview and Stevie sitting there with his face push up
In reply to Tryangle
ok my bad, I feel your pain. I truly do. Do they realize he is the other Lopez brother? lol
In reply to defeyeant
Meh, not my problem, I'm not the resident Knicks fan
Seems like the Knicks realized that they done lost out on Monroe, Jordan, LMA etc, they needed to go big with Lopez. $13M is a lot but I guess it's the market when u look at the deals that Monroe, Asik, Chandler etc are getting.
Deandre left Clips for Dallas! whoa!
These guys refuse to come to the Raptors as well.
Mourning
Kenny Anderson
Wally Szczerbiak
etc
If you scroll up in his thread, I told you all we would have to overpay for Lopez. In the grand scheme, we got Lopez and Afflalo for the same money Dallas gave to DeAndre. That's not bad in this market.
Lopez is a serviceable rim protector and rebounder. In the analytics world, he is a plus player. As a Knicks fan, I'm very happy with this offseason.
Good draft + above average free agent moves. This is how you start a rebuild.
no more updates? and punditry?
In reply to Admin
Totally pleased with the draft and the signing. When you inherit a team that is over the salary cap and one first round pick this year and none next year, the rebuild is not going to happen overnight. That being said,i like the direction and that was a good call on your part about Lopez.
In reply to Disciple
Phil Jackson has just taken Dolan money and has brought no basketball intelligence into the Knicks front office. US women soccer team has coopted his triangle and putting it to better use than the knicks ..
Knicks pick up Derrick Williams on the cheap (2 yrs/$10M). Nothing to be too excited about but at least we now have a warm body on the bench.
_r
Aldridge does the right thing. The Spurs!!!
_r
In reply to Admin
Don't know why he took so long. Dynasty extended.
Just woke up from London slumber.
In reply to Admin
Any other choice by LMA would have been downright STOOPID
In reply to Commie
That franchise is just beyond amazing. Just like that they find Timmy replacement, lock up Kawhi and Danny Green and guarantee 50-60 wins for the next 5 years.
_r
Perfect description:
David West considering Spurs at veterans minimum. HOLY SHIT!!!
In reply to Admin
Blazers
Batum, Aldridge, Mathews, Lopez...all gone. talk about clear out.
Raps didnt overpay Biyombo. phew!!
Surprised Lou Williams has lasted this long on the free market. And whats up with Jr Smith as well
In reply to defeyeant
Lou and JR probably looking for long term deals. Nobody want to go more than 2 yrs unless you're a borderline all star.
In reply to NYCGURU
No Sir far from it actually. But that was indeed the expectation from the NY Knicks fan base.
In reply to defeyeant
Both deals show desperation on the part of the Front Office. After failing to get any of the Big FA's and not even getting a foot in the door with Aldridge, with cash in hand, they had to make some moves.Lopez was the worst of the starters in Portland, and 4-54 mil contract is just down right stupid. You never overpay because you struck out going after a big names.Better to draft better, trade for young players 2-3 years in the league that need space and an opportunity to grow. Affalo 2-16 mil contract when compared to the other larger one might seems a good value for the buck, but we have seen a great decline in his last 2-3 years of production.I do like the trade that they just did with Orlando for O'Quinn, which makes sense, too bad I can't say the same for the D.Williams signing.
In reply to imusic
This is just a $ Money signing ..nothing else. Toronto need to get Lee from Gstate.
In reply to cricketest
Most likely going to Clips as a desperation move for losing Jordan.
In reply to triniposse
Anyone with an ounce of basketball sense knew that it was a pipe dream that any of the big name guys were coming to play for a 16 win knick team to play with one of the biggest ball hogs ever.keep in mind the Knicks do not own a first round pick next year.Either way,the process is going to take time.
$30 million over 4 to Cory Joseph and Raptors still havent really addressed their lack of rebounding or depth at the 4 spot? sigh
Rich Paul is a boss!!!!!
In reply to triniposse
You're forgetting that the Knicks don't have their draft pick next year, and their max player is 31 years old. They also will have cap space to chase more free agents next year. I think they overpaid a little for RoLo and DWill when u consider the bargains Sac got for Koufus and Casspi, but it's not my money, and they're not the only team overpaying in this market.
Spurs are stacked.
In reply to Commie
Yep getting West is just a great move. Leaving 10+ Mil on the table with Indiana, with this move to Spurs, not much players would do this, even if they SAY that the Ring is most important. I would have them as Favs for the Finals right now.Cleveland trying to keep up with a trade for Joe Johnson, but that is not going to be easy, with his 24 Mil salary. Hearing that Crawford from Clippers is another option.
In reply to defeyeant
Corey Joseph is coming back home.
Nice kid....He even played pan with Afropan back in the day.
Good, solid backup back court player to have but doesn't really address our needs other than adding some depth.
In reply to triniposse
I think it became fashionable for vet players to take less than the max in search of a ring. Gary Payton etc
In reply to imusic
leaving 10 mil on the table is just not that fashionable to me
In reply to ray
Vets usually have a lot of $$. Those that invested wisely are in an even better position to leave $$ on the table in pursuit of a championship.
In reply to imusic
well then tell he slide some money the band way, dey not play pan alive this year
I love David West to the Spurs, solid move by the franchise (yet again).
With Joseph gone, who becomes the reserve PG over there?
Mo Williams back to Cleveland. That could be useful. Not as good a defender as Delly, but a more potent offensive threat, so the Cavs can be a bit more strategic with their PG insertions.
That East looking so lopsided. Have to hope the Heat returns everybody healthy only to make things a contest over there.
Celtics trading for David Lee. Not the star they had hoped for, but I think he'll be a good fit.
Commie can finally celebrate.
Solid move by the Celtics. Actually liking them to take the Atlantic next season.
In reply to defeyeant
David Lee is a perfect fit for the C's
They already have Kelly Olynyk
Now all they need is K Love, DellaDova, and Jimmer Fredette with Matt Bonner coming off the bench and they'll have their starting 5 plus 6th man
In reply to imusic
its the white uh i mean right move. I am actually shocked Kevin Love didnt go there.
In reply to imusic
dont laugh boy, while they have a solid big man core amir, lee, sully, olynik, ona de zeller boys we have Patterson, jonas and Biyombo. things looking barren. we now begging for boozer. ah shame bad!
ya see how they treat Lou too?
In reply to defeyeant
dey bad talkin Lou too.....sayin how he a ball hog and suggesting he is the main reason the raps offence stagnated in the playoffs
Hatchet job. Lou didn't deserve that.
Remind me of when they traded Mike James. Same kinda ting
In reply to Disciple
When you watch Danny Ainge work you usually have to look beyond the normal picture.
This current roster is a pupu platter which will lead to something else.
Boston doesn't even have to tank as they outsourced their tank to Brooklyn and Dallas.
Mid season, if any of those two franchises collapse, the value of those picks will skyrocket up and any bad situation will become an opportunity, esp with Skai Labassierre and Ben Simmons on show in college.
David Lee is an expiring who can play. Crash was an expiring who cant.
Thats all it is. He will be added to whatever deal comes down the line...a 2015 Theo Ratliff with a pulse.
Wizards kept their powder dry for the most part. Sticking to the core of the young pups and then go all in for Durant next year.
In reply to imusic
So glad it was Dallas that granted Matthews and not the Raps. Didnt understand the Stuckey deal and Reggie Jackson is overrated. What Detroit going to do with Jennings now?
Deandre friggin up Dallas
