HEADLINE: Cameron doubts West Indies will make Champions Trophy

CaribbeanCricket.com 2015-07-26 07:40:24

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President Whycliffe “Dave” Cameron said there was a 90 per cent chance that the regional side would not qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.

Speaking to the local media in Guyana last week, Cameron said “I must say to you that we're probably 90 per cent sure that we're not going to make it to the Champions Trophy at this point in time.”

“It's part and parcel of not performing year in, year out that we've found ourselves in this position. All we can say is that all our programmes have to be geared towards making West Indies cricket better. I don't think if you try to do stop-gap measures by going to the Champions Trophy that serves anything at this point in time,” he added.

The WICB president also noted that the Tri-series involving Zimbabwe and Pakistan was not totally signed off on.

ESPNcricinfo quote "Zimbabwe had also floated an idea for a tri-series involving West Indies, but with Pakistan qualifying for the Champions Trophy, the PCB seems to have had a change of heart, leaving Zimbabwe to scrap their plan. Zimbabwe Cricket did not respond to ESPNcricinfo's queries."

Another example of extremely poor journalism. Cameron said: “It's part and parcel of not performing year in, year out that we've found ourselves in this position."

Any good journalist would have asked him pointed questions about his assignment of blame, instead, like parrots, they just takes his word without any challenge. It is why the WICB has been able to get away with their murder of WI cricket.

The matches against ZIM will still go ahead. However, even if the WI win them all they'll still end up 9th.

I do wonder how many points the WI dropped as a result of their loss to Ireland in the WC. I have no doubt that had Polly & Bravo been on the team, that loss, would have been avoided.

Oh well, add the CT fees to the $42M, in the ledger of monies that Commie's WICB has willfully squandered.

From Disaster to Destruction under Cameron.

Whatever happened to Dr Ralph Gonsalves (St Vincent) and Dr Keith Mitchell (Grenada) efforts to recall Dave? Had they followed through on their expressed intent, the WI certainly would've qualified for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Even more so, if the preceding Hindian tour hadn't been abandoned (at the advice of certain advisors), the WI wouldn't have dropped certain players and therefore wouldn't have lost to Ireland.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave!

Not sure who you're blaming for the India cancellation but at least we agree that a full-strength WI team wouldn't have lost to IRL.

cricketest 2015-07-26 10:10:23

at what strength was the team that lost to Kenya?

big grin

WICB should now ask the ICC for a 5 year break for ALL cricket...not more stop gap cricket...stop gap cricket must stop !!!! big grin

Well, Mr. Cameron, if your projection is true, this would be just another instance where you have failed Windies cricket under your leadership.

My translation of the above extract - stop-gap measures

If we had to pick the Bravo's and Pollards to qualify for Champions Trophy it taint going happen.

Kay 2015-07-26 14:26:01

Now I hope you understand why I take
umbrage to what those in the Media state . I will always be of the opinion , that THEY are a part of the Problem ; and I aint going to persuaded to change my opinion .

Any GOOD Journalists would have asked
him about the rise of Bangladesh ,but the Truth is that in the Region WE are saddled by many who are willing
Tools of those in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

By making that Statement , Cameron has laid the Groundwork for acceptance in the event that Our Team
does not make it to the Championships. Once again Cameron has proved that he is the Grand Master of
Deviousness .

What is troubling in my opinion , is that the people in the Media & those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are utterly devoid of having any Shame .

As I told you recently , the limiting of Overseas Players by England in the mid 1980's was aimed mainly at our
Players & Team , Players from other Teams were merely collateral damage .

Please recall which team had the fastest Bowlers in the World , when the 1 Bouncer Rule an over ,came into effect in Cricket . Like I state in this Forum some time ago ; Cricket is
played more often Off the Field than on the Field .

It aint that I am blaming England , it was Tough for England having our Players earning a living playing Cricket in England , and in International Matches , our Team was whipping their Asses .

I blame those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , who sat on their Asses and did nothing to keep our Players fully competitive .

Imagine it took those in the governance of Cricket in the Region
30 freaking years , before they started understanding what happened .

That is his way of trying to wish away the freaking TRUTH . He has been schooled by many Friends in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

You would by now have noticed , that he is unable to factually dispute what
I state here . He prefers instead to
throw out words like Emotional .

As I have stated often here , the International Cricket Cabal , aka the
ICC , has allowed those in the governance of Cricket in the Region to become a Rogue Cricket Board .
