Correct is right, the greatest! None since can do it all, Botham the closest but anyone can turn dem hand and say offspin. When dem can bowl everything in the book effectively, field every where with same agility and even keep wicket due to keeper injury they can make that claim.
Happy birthday to the greatest overall cricketer!
Happy birthday, sir gary. Might see u very soon.
the greatest not one of the greatest
Happy Birthday Gary. Enjoy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GREATEST
ALLROUNDER CRICKETER THE WORLD
HAS EVER SEEN .
Noted for his superb batting ; his
effective Pace Bowling & tantalizing Spin Bowling .
Very well stated ,and I completely endorse your sentiments . I saw both
Garry Sobers & Frank Worrell batting
against England in 1960 .
Many people in this Forum , may not realize that Garfield Sobers was selected on the West Indies Cricket
Team as a left arm Spinner .
But at the end of his career , Sir Garfield Sobers was & still is the BEST ALL ROUND CRICKETER IN THE WORLD .
Early in his innings ,in 1960 at the Kensington Oval , while batting with Frank Worrell , the English Off Spinner was giving Sobers some problems .
Worrell called Sobers for a mid pitch conference ; shortly afterwords Sobers got a quick single , so Worrell was facing the Spinner , He
proceeded to bat out of his crease ,
and hit the Spinner , whose name has escaped me , for 2 consecutive fours , Sobers when facing the Spinner again proceeded to do the same thing as Worrell , he was never again troubled by the Spinner or any other
Bowler .
Sobers ended up scoring 226 runs & Worrell 190 + runs . It was indeed thrilling to see that Test Match .
I have always confessed that Rohan
Kanhai was my favourite batsman , but looking at the match behind the Bowlers ; he got clean bowled by a ball from Freddie Truman that moved in the air like an Outswinger & when it hit the Pitch , it jacked back , knocking down Kanhai's Stumps .
Let me hasten to say that watch Worrell & Sobers bat more than made up for the dismissal of Kanhai , who scored 40 runs .
In reply to POINT How did he do it, pace n spin bowling? Talent on loaned from God?!

God given talent . It is not my intention to derail this thread , but Frank Worrell was also a fair medium pacer .
Happy Birthday to the Big Man! Enjoy to de max Sir Gary
He is one year less than the Mighty Sparrow 80, who celebrated a birthday recently also...

Nice bit of info on Sobers in the 1960 match.
I was on hand over the weekend and was able to wish the great Sir Gary Sobers a happy belated birthday in person in NY. In return I got a pic, a handshake, and an autograph I will always cherish.

One of my best days growing in Bim, was seeing Tony White bowled him for a duck.
It was the final set of matches in the 1st division, police got the greatest to play, my team Empire was close to winning, but a police victory against Pickwich would had given the force the cup.
Every Blues fan was upset with Sobers playing, I hurried from my Private lesson to the oval. I saw so many policeman and their fans mopping up the water at the Mecca, in order to play the game.
Maybe I got ulcer that day, I cannot remember who won the division, but it was good to listened to Tony having a different view of the delivery than Sir Gary.
BTW, I was given a ball by Sir Gary, that evening.
