HEADLINE: Bravo flies to B?dos to meet Simmons

CaribbeanCricket.com 2015-08-21 06:55:08

West Indies coach Phil Simmons has not turned his back on the senior players and has been negotiating with them to return to the Test team.  West Indies all rounder and T&T Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo flew to Barbados last weekend to meet with Simmons to discuss his future in the regional set-up.

The pair met during the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 tournament in Barbados but on that occasion Bravo said that the conditions were not right  to return. Bravo and Keiron Pollard have been sidelined since the aborted tour of India last October. Bravo was removed as captain of the ODI team and lost his place in the side. Pollard also lost his place but both were selected in a T20 series against South Africa earlier this year, prior to the ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

This is a very good move by Simmons.

I have always argued that managing high profile and talented athletes requires intelligence and not the bully pulpit.

Now meet with Mr.Pollard and settle this thing once and for all.

but WI cricket lacks intelligent people , in the NFL you have guys going to prison and then coming back for second , third chances.

Poor Simmons is beset by the burden of being from the same territory as these players.

Neither can help in test Cricket and the value of Bravo in ODI cricket has to be weighed carefully.

The T20 WC is next year and they will both be in the mix.

Storm in a teacup.

Does the coach live in Trinidad?

WE will soon find out how much Clout
Simmons has regarding the Selection of Players in the Region .

BTW , Bravo & some other Senior Players
thanks to the Coup ENGINEERED by Cameron & Hinds , aint in WIPA these days , so that salary negotiations aint going to be pretty .

However , as I stated , WE are going
to see how much Clout Simmons has as
the Coach of Our Team . Based on his predecessors , I aint optimistic ;
but as they say Time Will Tell .

Right on ... well said!

IMO, Bravo the 'Pull-Out Man', should never be considered for West Indies cricket again because, he's focused his allegiance outside the Caribbean and has proved to be an untrustworthy person during the last Indian tour..

Go gently into the good night Mr Bravo. Please..

Pedro Collins and Sylvester Clarke did the same.

I have no problem with Phil meeting with Bravo and all the players, that were victimized from the Indian tour.
Insularity will continue to haunt us, I can support a T20 squad, with 90% trinies.

SirGarny 2015-08-22 09:34:22

I'm still trying to understand why is Bravo, during his declining years, is so coveted.

guilt on the part of administrators ,trying to correct past injustices, same reason they pardon dead people for past convictions.

a bunch of useless people on this board...

you idiots don't realize that if india doesn't see the trinis on the team, like narine, bravo, pollard, etc..

there is no cricket and no money for your homeboys in the wicb..

is dunce allyuh dunce?

there is no cricket

And you tink India using dem like circus monkeys to attract crowd is a good thing?

POINT 2015-08-25 13:32:38

In reply to Controversy

I get what you have stated ; but some people in this Forum ; and definitely
in the WICB are very shortsighted .

As result they cannot see & anticipate
the long term effects of decisions
made . This is one of the reasons why
Cricket in the Region has seriously Regressed .

The WICB pulled the plug on the India Tour to satisfy their oversized Echoes , they were so enraged , that
they never considered the fact that
the BCCI was going to suffer serious
financial losses , if the Tour was terminated .

This precisely why in my opinion , the decision to terminate the Tour was Reckless ; and I stand by my statement that the WICB was
Reckless . Because there was no serious effort to mediate the problem .
Then to add insult to injury , they then decided to tell the BCCI , that they would send a replacement Team .

Despite all this most of the Sports Writers in the Region bluntly refused
to state that the decision of the WICB was Reckless .

As usual they rallied behind the WICB
; which is their general modus operandi . My view is that they are a
large part of the problem , regarding Cricket in the Region .

.

What makes you think Indians are using them like Circus Monkeys? If you dont have talent they would not want you.

Kay 2015-08-25 14:27:39

In reply to Pacy

If you dont have talent they would not want you.

Of course they have talent. Bravo can do a good jig, Pollard can tape his mouth (they ensure they made him use white tape) and walk around the field and they both would have the crowd rolling in laughter.... dat is circus clown right there
