The send off for Kumar Sangakkara; it really does suck at how our players are not afforded such an opportunity.

Not a single WI player treated well inspite of their contribution to WI cricket. Be it viv / Lara / Hooper or anyone.

I remember Ambi getting some respect in his last test. I dont remember anyone else even being recognized for their contribution.

Maybe our players don't afford the authorities the opportunity to plan and execute similar farewells. They just don't know when to (voluntarily) hang up their boots.

Did Walsh get any kind of tribute?

Can't remember if there was a tribute, but there was a celebration when he broke Kapil Dev's record for most wickets in Test cricket. Kapil actually called him at the ground and the conversation was heard over the PA system.

You need to understand , the people in the governance of Cricket in the Region
love reliving the 19th century Colonial era .

They are the Masters ; and the Players
their Servants . This is why they bluntly refused to have any dialog with the Players who were in India ; to settle the dispute about Salaries .
To Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , it was not only an affront , but beneath them , to have
a conversation about the dispute .

Obviously had the dispute been settled , the WICB would not be facing a proposed 42 million dollars lawsuit . As I have stated elsewhere
in this Forum , the WICB was penny wise & 42 million dollars Foolish .

I cite the above because it is because the WICB refuses to have a friendly relationship with the Players ; why Our Players do not get
a warm & Friendly send off from the WICB when they retire from representing the Region .

This demonstrates a total lack of Class . But then the WICB has never been known to have Class . Ensuring that the Structure is never changed ,
and its power never diluted is the only thing its Members care about .

And that has been just the way we do it from long time.

Viv had one of his better tour series the last one he played and they dropped him as a stone.

Andy Roberts was probably most potent the year he was unceremoniously discarded.

It's a a pattern of not respecting your own that has continued to this day.
